Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled coating agent forming a coated film which is excellent in masking properties and water resistance and is free from surface tackiness and slipping and is not allowed to flow by dewing formed on the surface of glass by using a reaction product of two kinds of specified compds. as essential component. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. compd. shown in a formula RSi(OR')n (R is methyl, ethyl, dimethyl and methylethyl, R' is 1-4C alkyl, (n) is 2 and 3) is allowed to react with 5-300pts.wt. compd. shown in the formula Si(OR')4 in the presence of dilute acid such as 0.1-0.01N hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and sulfonic acid, and thereby a coating agent for a scratch on a glass vessel which consists of the reaction product is obtained.

Currently, glass containers such as fruit juice bottles, soft drink bottles, and beer bottles are collected after use and used repeatedly. This results in a loss of appearance and a decrease in product value.

For this reason, in recent years, various types of coating agents have been applied to the surface of glass containers to cover the scratches and protect the aesthetic appearance of the glass containers.

However, these not only have poor shielding properties due to the paint film being washed away by condensation, but also become sticky and slippery after application, resulting in poor tactility and the risk of the container slipping from the hand. Moreover, not only does the coating peel off in cold water or in a showcase, resulting in poor water resistance, but the peeled oil also floats to the surface of the water, or during the bottle washing process, the oil may spill onto the container. There is also the risk that it may re-adhere to the inside and adversely affect the taste.

Cured products of organopolysiloxanes containing phenyl groups are known as coating agents that solve these problems. (Unexamined Japanese Patent Publication No. 55-56040). This type of coating agent improves the various drawbacks mentioned above and can be used successfully when applying to empty containers or filling contents above room temperature. If the coating is applied after the coating has been applied, the temperature difference will cause dew condensation on the surface of the container, and this condensation will cause the coating to peel off and be washed away, resulting in a loss of shielding effect.

Furthermore, this type of coating agent also has the disadvantage that the coating film cannot always be removed sufficiently in a normal bottle washing process.

The purpose of the present invention is to improve the various drawbacks of the above-mentioned known techniques, and to provide a structure that is free from stickiness, slippage, and no flakes, has good water resistance, and does not have oil floating when immersed in water. Therefore, it does not adversely affect the quality of the contents, and even when the container is filled with contents at a temperature below room temperature, the film will not be washed away due to condensation, so it has good shielding properties. Moreover, the coating film is easily removed during the bottle washing process. An object of the present invention is to provide a novel coating agent for scratches on glass containers.

As described above, the coating agent according to the present invention is not sticky or slippery, does not adhere to any lumps, has good water resistance, and does not have oil floating when immersed in water, and therefore has a high quality content. It does not have a negative effect on the water, and even when it is applied after filling the container with contents at a temperature below room temperature, the film will not be washed away by condensation, so it has good shielding properties and can be used in the bottle washing process. The coating film can be easily removed, making this invention extremely useful in practice.
