Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a setting position of a printing paper to be freely changed, by setting the first printing-starting position according to detected position information supplied from a means for detecting a set position of the printing paper. CONSTITUTION:An optical sensor 12 is used as a printing paper position detector 2, and is fitted to a carriage 13. The carriage 13 is moved leftward and rightward relative to a printing paper 11 through transmission of drive by a spacing belt 14, and when the left end of the paper 11 is detected by the sensor 12 in this movement, a printing head 15 is set to the first printing-starting position. Thus, the set position of the printing paper is detected by the detector 2, and the first printing-starting position is set according to the detected position, whereby a setting position of the printing paper can be freely changed within a spacing range of the printing head, without modifying a control code in a host device for controlling a printer.

In FIG. 1, the Kimi tS example has a print paper position detector (not shown in the figure) that is attached to the horizontal feed mechanism section 1 of the print head and the horizontal feed structure section 1 to detect the position of the set print paper. A first printing position is set using a detection signal from a VA (for example, a photo sensor, etc.) 2 and a printing paper position detector 2.
It is composed of a print position setting circuit 3, a printer control circuit 4, and a lateral feed mechanism control circuit 5.
