Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the joining of a molten metal to he end of a hollow member and to facilitate a knock-out operation in insert casting of the hollow member by connecting and fitting the hollow member into the cavity of casting molds by means of a supporting member thereby eliminating the contact of the aperture of the hollow member with the casting molds. CONSTITUTION:The hollow member 4 is supported in the casting 10 of the casting molds 7, 8 is supported by the sand core supporting member 13 in a manner as not to contact with the molds 7, 8. The molten metal is cast into the cavity 10. Since the member 4 does not contact with the molds 7, 8, the overcooling part in the aperture at the end of the member 4 is prevented and the joining with the molten metal is improved. The quality of the end part is thus made better than in the case in which the conventional hollow member 4 is supported in direct contact with the molds 7, 8. The defects such as the seizure of the member 4 to the molds 7, 8 during the knock-out are eliminated and the knock-out operation is made extremely easy.

(Prior art) Generally, when obtaining a hollow casting, for example a pipe-shaped casting,
As shown in FIG. 3, a pipe-shaped hollow member 4 with central portions 14 and 14 at both ends is placed in a mold cavity 10 formed in advance by the inner walls 9 of an upper mold 7 and a lower mold 8, with a frame extending therebetween. After that, pour the molten metal into the mold cavity 1.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) However, in the hollow casting 1 manufactured in this manner, the central portion 14.14 of the hollow member 4 must be cut and removed at the end face 15.15 of the hollow casting 1. In addition, when the hollow member 4 is made of metal, when the molten metal is poured into the mold cavity 10, the molten metal is easily cooled near the inner wall 9 of the mold cavity 10.
In the hollow member 4 near the inner wall 9 of the mold cavity 10, the outer circumferential surface that comes into contact with the molten casting metal becomes incompletely joined, and a feeder is provided near the end surface 15 of the hollow member 4, or even if it has a simple shape. For example, there were problems such as having to make a long piece in advance and then cutting it.

[Structure of the Invention] (Means for Solving the Problems) The structure of the invention is such that in a hollow casting in which a hollow member is cast into a cavity communicating from the inside to the outside of the casting body, the open end face of the hollow member is This is a hollow casting characterized by being placed inward from the opening end surface of the cavity of the casting body, and in which a hollow member is placed in a mold cavity and then poured into the mold cavity to encase the hollow member. In the manufacturing method, a support member fixed to the inner wall of the mold cavity is fitted and supported by the hollow member, and the hollow member is cast with the open end face of the hollow member and the inner wall of the mold cavity in a non-contact state. This is a manufacturing method for hollow castings.

(Function) The function of the present invention is a hollow casting in which the opening end face of the hollow member is arranged inward from the opening end face of the cavity of the casting body, and a supporting member fixed to the inner wall of the mold cavity is fitted into the hollow member. This is a method for manufacturing hollow castings in which the hollow member is supported and supported, and the hollow member is cast in a non-contact state between the open end face of the hollow member and the inner wall of the mold cavity. When poured into the cavity, the molten metal is cooled and tightly adheres to the casting body.

In addition, as shown in FIG. 2, the method for producing a hollow casting of the present invention includes a mold-side central portion 12 on a mold mating surface 11 in a mold cavity 10 formed by the inner wall 9 of the upper mold 7 and the lower mold 8.
.. 12, and the space between the mold-side central portion 12.12 and both ends of the hollow member 4 is formed so that the open end surface 5 of the pipe-shaped hollow member 4 is in a non-contact state with the inner wall 9 of the mold cavity 1o. After being fitted and supported by the support member 13.13 made of sand core, molten casting metal is poured into the mold cavity 19, and the hollow member 4 is integrally cast into the casting body 2,
After the molten metal has solidified, the supporting member 1 is removed from the casting body 2.
3°13 is removed.
