Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a printer from being broken, by performing printing after subjecting printing pattern data to a half-dot processing instead of directly printing the printing pattern data as they are. CONSTITUTION:Printing pattern data inputted to a printing data part 1 are sent to a half-dot processing part 2 (a calculating means) with one dot column as a unit. In the part 2, calculations are conducted based on a dot column alphato be subjected to a half-dot processing and the preceding dot column beta already subjected to the half-dot processing and stored in a storage part 3. A dot column gamma for a half-dot pattern thus obtained is stored into the storage part 3 and a half-dot pattern part 4. When printing is conducted by using printing patterns processed and stored in the half-dot pattern part 3, images in the form of half-dot patterns can be printed, irrespective of the form of the printing pattern data being received. When printing pattern data A, B, C with each dot column constituted of 8 dots vertically aligned are received, pattern data obtained after the half-dot processing become A', B', C'.

The conventional printer described above is limited to half-dot printing using a print pattern prepared internally in advance, and when printing received print pattern data, the dot arrangement in the row direction of the print pattern data is always a half-dot pattern. must be maintained. If the dot pattern of the received print pattern data includes a pattern of continuous dots in the row direction, a problem arises in that a load that exceeds the printer's printing capacity is applied to the printer, and in some cases, the printer may be damaged. be.

The printer of the present invention includes a storage means for storing a 7-dot pattern in which dots in the row direction are not consecutive obtained from print pattern data for each column, and a storage means for storing the half-dot pattern of one column before read from the storage means. The apparatus includes calculation means for generating the half-dot pattern of the print pattern data from the pattern and the print pattern data corresponding to the subsequent column.

In FIG. 1, print pattern data input to a print data section 1 is sent in units of one dot row to a half dot processing section 2 as a calculation means. The half-dot processing section 2 performs the arithmetic processing shown in (1) 2 on the dot row α to be half-dot-processed and the dot β which has already been half-dot-processed and stored in the storage section 3 one dot row before it.

As explained above, the printer of the present invention performs half-dot processing and then prints instead of printing the print pattern data as is, so that when the print pattern data includes a pattern of continuous dots in the row direction, However, since continuous dots are not printed in the line direction, there is an effect that damage to the printer can be prevented without imposing a load on the printer that exceeds its printing capacity.
