[Detailed Description of the Invention] A0 Object of the Invention (1) Industrial Application Field The present invention provides an air cleaner connected to the intake pipe of an engine mounted on a vehicle body, which is disposed above the engine and located in front of the vehicle body. The present invention relates to an intake system for an engine in a vehicle having a front fender that covers the upper surface of a front wheel.

(2) Prior Art Generally speaking, vehicles that are capable of traveling on rough terrain, wetlands, snowy areas, etc. are sometimes driven with most of their running wheels submerged in water. For this reason, in such vehicles, the air intake of the intake system of the driving engine mounted on the vehicle body must be located at a higher position than the running wheels. It is already known that the air intake port of the engine intake system is provided directly below (Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 1983
(Refer to Publication No.-421).

(3) Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, particulate matter such as droplets, mud, dust, snow, etc. that are scattered when the vehicle is running is sucked into the intake system along with the intake air, and the air cleaner in the intake system is damaged. Early clogging and fouling of the element may occur, increasing intake resistance.
Another problem is that the frequency of replacing and cleaning the cleaner element increases.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an intake system for an engine in a vehicle that can solve the above-mentioned problems by reducing as much as possible the intake of particulate matter into the intake air. This is the purpose.

(2) Function The wind flowing over the front fender, which contains particulate matter such as droplets, mud, dust, and snow, does not flow directly into the air intake passage, but flows around the air intake passage. The particulate matter is guided by the eaves at the upper edge of the air intake and blown backward,
Air that is substantially free of particulate matter flows into the air intake passage.

When the vehicle is running, the wind flowing on the upper surfaces of the left and right front fenders 1.1 flows backward along the upper surfaces of the air intake passages 7, 7 as shown by the arrows in FIG. Since the front end surface of the intake passage 7 is closed, the running wind does not directly enter the air intake passage 7.

The intake negative pressure generated by the operation of the engine E is passed through the conduit 12 and the connecting pipe 11.11 to the left and right air intake passages 7.
Therefore, when the outside air is drawn into the air intake passage 7.7 through the air intake port 8.8, there is a relatively small amount of air flowing over the left and right front fenders 1, 1. A large amount of particulate matter such as droplets, mud, dust, and snow is mixed in, but when the traveling wind flows over the upper surface of each air intake passage 7, the particulate matter is guided by the eaves 9 and blown backward. It is difficult to enter the air intake passage T, and only air bypasses the eaves 9 and is sucked into the passage T through the air intake port 8. Coupled with the fact that the running wind does not directly enter the air intake passage 7 through the front end thereof, air from which the particulate matter has been separated is sucked into the air intake passage T.

Effects of the C0 Invention As is clear from the above embodiments, according to the present invention,
An air intake passage that communicates with the air cleaner inlet is provided on the top surface of the front fender, an air intake is opened at the rear end of this air intake passage, and an eave is provided on the upper edge of this air intake, so that the air The air flowing over the front fender does not directly flow into the intake passage, and the eaves at the upper edge of the air intake are designed to actively remove flying objects such as droplets, mud, dust, and snow that get mixed into the air while driving. The particulate matter is separated into air intake.
10, the air containing almost no particulate matter can be introduced into the air cleaner, and the air cleaner is less likely to be contaminated or clogged by the particulate matter. The frequency of cleaning and replacement can be reduced.

また吸気抵抗を低減してエンジンの出力性能の向上に寄

Furthermore, it is possible to reduce intake resistance and contribute to improving the output performance of the engine.
