Abstract

PURPOSE:To omit the installation of a mode changing switch to expand a space on an operation panel and to reduce the cost of parts by constituting the device so that an operation mode is switched to an automatic density adjusting mode in case a manual density adjusting means is set up on a prescribed position. CONSTITUTION:A density knob 10 is arranged on the operation panel of the copying device, image density can be increased by sliding the knob 10 downward, and if the knob 10 is downed until the lowest end, the density adjusting mode is switched from the manual mode to the automatic mode and an automatic density adjusting mode lamp 11 is turned on. In case the required density is set up by the knob 10, voltage extracted from a slide volume 4 is inputted to a terminal A of a CPU 1 and the voltage value is A/D converted by the CPU 1. The digital value after the A/D conversion is compared with a set value, and in case both the values coincide with each other, the lamp 11 is turned on, and then the density adjusting mode is switched to the automatic mode.

(Prior Art) In electrostatic recording devices such as electrophotographic copying machines and some types of facsimile machines, a visible image is formed by developing an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor or dielectric material with a developer containing toner. and recorded images. Conventionally, this type of electrostatic recording device has a manual density adjustment mode in which the density adjustment knob provided on the device is manually adjusted steplessly to adjust the density of the recorded image, and a manual density adjustment mode in which the density adjustment knob provided on the device is manually adjusted in a stepless manner. Some printers are equipped with a density adjustment means that can be selectively switched between an automatic density adjustment mode in which the image density of the image is detected and the copy density is automatically adjusted according to the detected density using a changeover switch or the like. In this case, in the manual density adjustment mode, the amount of exposure to the photoconductor or the development bias applied to the developing device is adjusted by the density adjustment operation to control the amount of toner adhesion, and in the automatic density adjustment mode, the density of the original is adjusted. The amount of toner adhesion is controlled by automatically adjusting the developing bias accordingly. As is well known, when the photoreceptor is positively charged, increasing the bias voltage applied to the developing device will reduce the copy density, and conversely, decreasing the bias voltage will increase the copy density.

However, in such conventional copying devices,
Since a changeover switch is used to change over the density adjustment mode, installation space for the changeover switch is required, and parts costs are also increased. Even when performing a rough switching operation, for example, when changing the mode from automatic to manual, it is necessary to press the -H selector switch and then adjust the density using the rough density adjustment knob, and such a two-step operation is not easy to use. It was bad.

(Objects and Structure of the Invention) The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and provides a copying machine that can selectively switch between an automatic density adjustment mode and a manual density adjustment mode. The purpose of the present invention is to improve the operability during adjustment, and for this purpose, when the manual density adjustment means is set at a predetermined position, it is configured to switch to automatic density adjustment mode.

In Figure 1, 1 is a CPU with an A/D conversion function that converts analog values into digital values, 2 and 3 are internal memories, and 4 is a slide volume for density setting, and the density adjustment knob in Figure 2 is manually operated by 10. The u'a degree knob 10 is placed on the operation panel of the copying machine shown in Fig. 2, and by sliding it from the top to the bottom in Fig. 2, the image density can be increased, and it can be lowered to the lowest end. Then, the density adjustment mode switches from manual to automatic, and the automatic density adjustment mode lamp 11 lights up.

When a power switch (not shown) is turned on to start the copying apparatus, the density adjustment mode is set to manual density adjustment mode unless the density adjustment knob 10 is located at the bottom end of the operation panel shown in FIG. In this mode, when the desired density is set using the density adjustment knob 10 (F-1>, the voltage taken out from the slide volume 4 is input to terminal A of the CPU 1 (F-2), and the voltage value is applied to the A/D at CPLJl. The digital value after A/D conversion is converted (F-3>). Compare the converted digital value (preset as a mode switching value) with F-4>. If the two are equal, the automatic density adjustment mode lamp 11 will light up, and from then on, the density adjustment mode will change to automatic density adjustment. mode (F-5).The CPU then outputs a preset bias voltage signal to the bias circuit 7 based on the density information from the original density detector 9, and the bias voltage corresponding to the density of the original is applied to the developing device 8. is applied to

On the other hand, if the digital value after AID conversion is not equal to the mode switching value (F-4), a density signal corresponding to the digital value is sent from the CPU to the bias circuit 7, and a predetermined bias voltage is applied to the developing device 8. (F-6).
