Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the presence of oxygen in an atmosphere, by packing an oxygen absorbent by an indicator wherein a composition containing Methylene Blue, a specific amount of a reducing agent and a water-soluble resin binder is printed on a support. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen-sensitive composition containing Methylene Blue, a reducing agent in an amount capable of making Methylene Blue almost colorless in the presence of water and a water-soluble resin binder is prepared. A heat-meltable perforated resin film 6 comprising polyethylene is fused to a support 4 comprising Japanese paper having printed matter 2 of said oxygen- sensitive composition in the side opposite to said printed matter 2 or a nonwoven fabric is laminated thereto to form a bag. Subsequently, said bag is filled with the oxygen absorbent 8 to form an oxygen absorbent package which is, in turn, received in a food package.

At present, several types of oxygen absorbers are commercially available and are used in the form of being enclosed in the packaging of processed foods for the purpose of preventing oxidation and preserving the freshness of the foods. However, there is no way to determine whether or not the eR buildup in the packaging has actually been sufficiently removed by the oxygen absorber, and it is extremely Even after several attempts, we were unable to discover this, and it was extremely dangerous from a safety standpoint.Furthermore,
Even though the ability of the oxygen absorber decreased due to long-term storage, this decrease in ability could not be detected, creating a major problem in terms of food hygiene.

An indicator for determining the ability of an acid cumulative absorption/absorbing agent, which is formed by applying this acid-sensitive cumulative composition to a support, is placed in a package of foods, etc., with the oxygen absorbent wrapped therein. If there is boron in the packaging due to a decrease in the ability of the element absorbent, the product will turn blue.

When the above composition is printed on a support and dried, it exhibits a blue color. However, even when it is in an acid-free state, if it does not contain water, the reducing agent does not act and the composition does not become colorless. It is necessary to give all the water to 2. In this ninth step, the water released by the reaction with oxygen is allowed to permeate into the printing 9J2 through the entire support 4, either by adding water during use or by using a special oxygen absorber. In the latter case, the aqueous ferrous compound, alkali compound, sulfite hydrate, and certain additives disclosed by the present inventors in Japanese Patent Application No. 73696/1982, or metal powder, etc., may be added to these. Preference is given to using the mixture as oxygen absorber.

As explained above, in the oxygen absorbent composition of the present invention, an indicator printed or coated on a support is integrally provided on the surface of the oxygen absorbent, so that the presence or absence of oxygen in the atmosphere surrounding one food can be determined. It is possible to detect accidents during storage of oxygen absorbent packages before use. This is because if there is a bottle neck pihole etc. in the exterior material that covers the oxygen absorbent package and the oxygen absorbent loses its ability before use, it will turn blue, so please take a look at it before use.
