Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable easy and simple detection of moisture at the connection of a communication cable, by packing a transparent tube with a hygroscopic coloring agent while a breatching porous body is provided between the coloring agent and an opened tube end. CONSTITUTION:A lid 7 and a metal tube 8 are connected to a transparent tube 6 separately with an adhesive 9. A breathing porous body 10 is set on the side of the metal tube 8 and the transparent tube 6 is packed with a hygroscopic coloring agent 11. Then, when a moisture detector 12 is mounted to a connection case, the coloring agent 11 in the transparent tube 6 changes gradually from the side of the metal tube 8 if moisture enters at the opening of the metal tube of the detector 12. Therefore, this can indicate that there is abnormality in the moisture within the connection case thereby enabling easy and simple detection of moisture at the connection of a communication cable.

(Prior art) At the connection part of the communication cable applied to the non-gas safe section,
Normally, humidity is not detected, but water intrusion detectors are installed. Conventionally, this type of water immersion detector is shown in Fig. 4(a).
, (b), electrodes 4, 4' for the water immersion detector 5 are installed on the insulating plate 3 of the connection part 2 of the lead wire 1.1', and if water enters this part, the electrodes Since the electrical resistance between 4 and 4' becomes low, water intrusion was detected by this.

(Function) Since the humidity detector of the present invention is configured as described above, the air outside the transparent tube of the detector passes through the porous body inside the tube from the outside air outlet and comes into contact with the hygroscopic colorant. Therefore, the degree of humidity in the outside air can be immediately detected by the change in the degree of coloring of the hygroscopic colorant.

Since the humidity detector 12 of the above embodiment is configured as described above, when moisture from the outside air enters from the open end on the metal tube 8 side, the hygroscopic colorant 11 gradually changes color from the open end side. The degree of discoloration can be checked from the outside of the transparent tube 6.
