、該手段により読取られたトナーの品種が装置と整合し
ない場合、トナーカートリッジの使用を禁止する手段と

リッジに本発明を適用した実施例を示すものである。各
図において、トナーカートリッジ4の外面の所定の位置
に、カートリッジ内に収容されたトナーの品種を示すバ
ーコード3が印刷され、もしくは印刷された用紙が貼付
けられている。複写機等の装置本体にはトナーカートリ
ッジが所定の位置に装着されるときに通過する経路に面
して、上記のバーコード3を読取ることができる読取り
装置が設けられている。第1図から第3図迄の実施例で
は、読取り装置としてLED等の光源1とこれにより照
らされたバーコード1の反射光を検知するフォトトラン
ジスタ等のセンサ2より成る。第4図はその構成を示す
回路図である。トナーカートリッジを装着位置に装着す

の装着部の生産コストを量産効果により低減させること
