Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit both positive display and negative display by forming a negative display block as a guest-host (GH) negative display block by transparent electrodes conforming to a display pattern and a positive display block as the GH positive display block by the transparent electrodes segmented by the shape conforming to the display pattern and orientation treatment of different directions. CONSTITUTION:The polarizing direction by a liquid crystal 6 is parallel with the polarizing direction by a polarizing plate 8a with the block 1b of a liquid crystal cell and since the directions are the same as the directions of the ordinary GH liquid crystal display device, said block makes the negative display which is made transparent when a driving voltage is impressed to the cell. The liquid crystal 6 does not have the polarizing directions in the parts except the display pattern 4c of the block 1a and therefore said parts are always transparent regardless of the impression of the driving voltage or the absence thereof. The part of the display pattern 4c is subjected to the orientation treatment similar to the orientation treatment in the block 1b and therefore said part is made transparent when the driving voltage is impressed to the cell. The above-mentioned part is made opaque when the driving voltage is not impressed. The said display is positive with respect to the inverted driving voltage.

[Conventional technology 1] Conventionally, this type of liquid crystal display Hiff is provided with a display system responsible for negative display and positive display within a single liquid crystal cell surface.
There is one without as shown in FIG. A dotted arrow 12 is placed on the back side of the portion 10a where you want to perform positive display.
As shown in , a light leakage plate is arranged so that the polarizing plate on the front surface and the polarization axis are perpendicular to each other, and a light leaking plate is arranged so that the polarizing plate on the front surface and the polarization axis are perpendicular to each other. A polarizing plate is disposed on the front side of the plane ij axis. By doing so, it is possible to provide a portion 10a that performs a positive display and a portion 10b that performs a negative display by applying the same electrical signal to the liquid crystal unit 10.

[Problems to be solved by the invention] However, the conventional technology described above has T.
Since it uses an N liquid crystal, it inherently has the problem of a narrow viewing angle, but in addition to that, rainbow-like interference colors also occur in the negative display area, reducing the quality of the display. In addition, in the manufacturing process, cutting and pasting the polarizing plate described above was very time-consuming, and it was especially difficult to carry out when the dividing line between negative display and positive display was not a straight line. This poses a problem in that it is difficult to do so, and furthermore, the boundary line of the polarizing plate obtained in this way stands out in the culm that can be clearly recognized from the display surface, and the Kanryo name There was also the problem of giving a 3a compatibility to the above.

[Means for Solving the Problems] The present invention provides a positive display on one liquid crystal cell display surface as a specific means for solving the above-mentioned problems of the conventional method.
In a liquid crystal display device comprising different display sections for negative display, the negative display section is a GH (guest phos 1 ~) negative display section using transparent electrodes according to the display pattern, and the positive display section is divided into shapes according to the display pattern.
The conventional problems are solved by providing a liquid crystal display device characterized by a GH positive display section formed by transparent electrodes and alignment treatments in different directions.

What is indicated by the reference numeral 1 in the figure is a liquid crystal display device, and the liquid crystal display device is divided into sections 1a and 1b, each with a different display method, that is, section 1a is a positive display, and section 1b is a positive display. It is designed to display a negative image. The liquid crystal display device has glass substrates 2a and 2b, and transparent electrodes 3 formed as appropriate to form a display pattern are disposed on the inner surface of each of the glass substrates 2a and 2b. Furthermore, alignment films 4a and 4b are provided, which are also made of transparent resin films, to cover the transparent electrodes 3. The alignment film 4a provided on the glass substrate 2a on the display surface side is subjected to an alignment treatment such as rubbing in the direction indicated by the dotted line arrow in FIG. Masking the parts other than 4C and re-rubbing in the direction shown by the dotted arrow 8 in the figure. By doing this, the display pattern 4C part and the section 1b part are aligned with the arrow 8. It is oriented in the direction of the mouth.

Here, the transparent mold 4fA3a of the section 1a has substantially the same shape as the display pattern 4C. Incidentally, since all of the directions of the alignment treatment described above are performed with the liquid crystal cell assembled, the directions in the left and right directions will be reversed in actual work.

Next, the alignment film 4b of the glass substrate 2b on the back side is a third layer.
The two blade lath bases 2a, 2b which have been subjected to the orientation treatment are rubbed and oriented in the direction indicated by the solid arrow C'r in the figure.
, 4b are faced to each other with their inner surfaces facing each other, and the periphery is sealed using a sealant 5, and then a GH liquid crystal 6 is injected inside and sealed. The polarizing plate 8a is attached with the direction aligned with the dotted arrow B. Section 1 of the liquid crystal cell obtained by the above
In section b, the direction of polarization by the liquid crystal 6 and the direction of polarization by the polarizing plate 8a are parallel, and since it is the same as a normal G) (liquid crystal display device), it becomes a negative display that becomes transparent by applying a driving voltage. Section 1a The portion other than the display pattern 4C is always transparent regardless of whether a driving voltage is applied because the liquid crystal 6 does not wait for the polarization direction, and the portion of the display pattern 4c is subjected to the same alignment treatment as the section 1b. Therefore, when a driving voltage is applied, it becomes transparent, and when no driving voltage is applied, it becomes opaque, which is a positive display with respect to the inverted driving voltage.
Since it is an eye liquid crystal, there may be some problems with high speed. This solution is as follows:
This problem is solved by providing a known TN dot matrix liquid crystal self in close contact with the back side of the part other than c, 1, that is, the always transparent part, and further arranging a polarizing plate 8b on the back side. At this time, in the TN dot matrix liquid crystal display, if the polarization axis of the polarizing plate 8b is parallel to the polarizing plate 8a, a negative display is obtained, and if it is perpendicular to the polarizing plate 8a, a positive display is obtained.

[Effects of the Invention] As explained above, the negative display section is a GH negative display section with transparent electrodes according to the display pattern, and the positive display section is divided into shapes according to the display pattern, and the transparent electrodes have different orientations. By forming the GH positive display section through processing, the liquid crystal display device of the present invention is capable of both positive and negative display, and the viewing angle is widened by the GH liquid crystal. This eliminates time-consuming processes such as dividing or cutting out, thereby simplifying the manufacture of this type of liquid crystal display device, and improving practicality.
