射せしめるための対物レンズ及び該対物レンズを
保持するレンズホルダを前記対物レンズの光軸方
向及びこれに直角な方向において移動自在に且つ
前記対物レンズの光軸が前記記録面に対して直角
となるように支持する支持機構と、前記対物レン
ズ及びレンズホルダに駆動力を付与する駆動手段
とを含むレンズ駆動装置であつて、前記駆動手段
は、コイル中心軸が前記光軸方向に平行な第1コ
イルと、コイル中心軸が前記光軸方向に垂直な第
2コイルと、平行磁束を生ずる単一の磁気ギヤツ
プを有する磁気回路とからなり、前記磁気ギヤツ
プ内に前記第1及び第2コイルの一部を作用辺と
して存在させ且つ前記作用辺のいずれか一方の作
用辺をそのコイルの中心軸方向に離間させ、離間
した一方の作用辺の間に他方の作用辺を配置して
いることを特徴とするレンズ駆動装置。 (2) コイルの中心軸方向に離間した一方の作用
辺の該コイルの半径方向の厚みと、離間した一方
の作用辺の間に配置される他方の作用辺のコイル
中心軸方向の高さとが一致していることを特徴と
