Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of the titled sensor by providing at a prescribed interval two detecting element to photodetect respectively terrestrial radiations from two directions condensed using a couple of lens and baffle in a box body in an artificial satellite. CONSTITUTION:The radiation from the earth 1 (usually, infrared rays ) is condensed by a lens 2 and a baffle 3 fitted to a window of the sensor box body 7 and made incident on a couple of the detecting elements 4 and 5. Outputs of these photodetecting elements 4 and 5 are amplified by an amplifier 8 and made terrestial pulses. In other words, it is utilized that the lens 2 can condense even light deviated by several degrees from the optical axis and the two detecting elements 4 and 5 are supported close to the desired focal position by a supporting body 6 and the terrestrial pulses with respect to the upper and lower two directions of a vertical plane are generated on a satellite spin axis 9.

FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram including an embodiment of the present invention. Light is collected by a bar filter 3 and enters a pair of detection elements 4 and 5. The outputs of these detection elements 4.5 are amplified by an amplifier 8 and become earth pulses. In this embodiment, the two detection elements 4.5 are supported near the desired focal position by the support 6, taking advantage of the fact that the lens 2 can collect light even if it is shifted several degrees from its optical axis. Earth pulses are generated in two directions, above and below a plane perpendicular to the satellite spin axis 9.
