Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate bubbles present in a prepreg formed by impregnating a glass cloth with an epoxy resin to thereby eliminate bubbles remaining in a laminate obtained by press molding, by pretreating the glass cloth with a surface treatment agent and an epoxy resin varnish. CONSTITUTION:In the production of a glass cloth used as a base for epoxy resin laminates, said glass cloth is pretreated with a surface treatment agent and an epoxy resin varnish. The treatment with the epoxy resin varnish is performed simultaneously with or after the treatment with the surface treatment agent.

Conventionally, the glass cloth used for epoxy resin laminates has been coated with a coupling agent such as epoxy nose run on the surface of the glass w4 string. This coupling agent is necessary to improve the adhesion between the inorganic glass and the precipitated epoxy resin.

However, even if glass cloth treated with a coupling agent is used, air bubbles remain even after the epoxy resin is dried for three times in the subsequent process, and there is a problem that air bubbles remain in the laminate after press molding. . The residual air bubbles are caused by the expansion of the air bubbles when the laminate is heated, resulting in minute cranks, etc., resulting in poor heat resistance,
This may cause deterioration of moisture resistance, etc.

DI(F), water, etc., but it is preferable to use a solvent with a somewhat high boiling point (for example, 100°C or higher) as at least a part of the solvent in order to improve the impregnation of the epoxy resin into the crow cloth. For the same reason, the concentration of the epoxy resin varnish is preferably 2 to 30% by weight, particularly 2 to 10% by weight. This concentration is considerably lower than the 35-60% by weight concentration of epoxy resin with which such treated glass cloth is subsequently impregnated. The epoxy resin m attached to the glass cloth treated with this low concentration epoxy resin is 2 to 20% by weight, preferably 5 to 15% by weight.

According to the glass cloth manufacturing method of the present invention, no air bubbles remain in the prepreg when impregnated with epoxy resin in the subsequent process and dried, and no air bubbles remain in the laminate during press molding. .
