Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify an operation and to improve the efficiency of a retrieval operation of a large quantity of documents by converting a KANJI (Chinese character) of a document format to a read pattern recognition use image data, deriving a KANJI code from the pattern recognition use image data, and executing the retrieval of a dictionary of Chinese character explained in Japanese. CONSTITUTION:A document 1 is set to a scanner 2, and a document data A mentioned in the document 1 is brought to a scanning operation. An image signal obtained by this scanning operation is read by an image reading circuit 6, and stored in an image memory 7 as an image data B being in a state that it remains read. A pattern correcting circuit 8 reads out the image data B from the image memory 7, converts it to an image data C for a pattern recognition by the dot pattern of the image data B, and stores it in a memory 13 for a pattern recognition. Subsequently, data read out of the use memory 13 for the pattern recognition and a memory 14 for a character code are brought to matching and derived from a memory for KANJI (Chinese character) code against a pattern.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Field of Industrial Application The present invention relates to an electronic search method for Kanji dictionaries, especially for searching Kanji. There are requests to create electronic files and perform dictionary searches on these electronic files.Conventional electronic search methods to meet such requests include, for example, pressure detection in the data input section for kanji, etc. It has a sensor and is provided with a part for the operator to write characters using his fingers or a prescribed tool, and detects the stroke order when the operator writes the characters, or the start and end points of each stroke. There is a method in which the strokes of kanji are recognized by the operator, the code assigned to each kanji is determined from the recognition result, and a dictionary search is performed. Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, in the conventional electronic search method as described above, in order to input the searched data such as kanji into the search device, it is necessary to rely on the manual operation by the operator. There are problems in that it is troublesome and the workability is poor. In particular, although kanji and other characters are often written on paper or reproduced as hard copies and distributed, it is difficult to perform an electronic search when operators have to input them manually. The badness of the situation becomes remarkable.

Operation When the kanji written on the hardcopy document is read by a reading device such as a scanner, this read data is subjected to image recognition and kanji conversion processing. In this image recognition and Kanji conversion process, first, image data input from a scanner is converted into image data for pattern recognition. In the image recognition and Kanji conversion processing section, correspondence is established between the image data for pattern recognition obtained by the conversion process and the image data for pattern recognition stored in the processing section in advance, and the corresponding image data for pattern recognition is created. Select a kanji code based on.

As shown in FIG. 2, the image recognition/Kanji conversion device 3 includes an image reading circuit 6 connected to the scanner 2 to read images, and an image memory 7 in which image data read by the image reading circuit is stored. , a pattern correction circuit 8 that performs conversion processing from image data to pattern recognition data, and a pattern recognition memory 1 that stores pattern recognition data obtained by the correction (V conversion) processing.
3, a character code memory 14 storing character (kanji) codes corresponding to the pattern recognition data, data from the pattern recognition memory 13, and a character code memo 1J.
a pattern recognition circuit 9 that selects and determines a kanji code based on the data from the pattern recognition circuit 9; a kanji dictionary search circuit 10 that searches the kanji dictionary 3 based on the kanji code from the pattern recognition circuit 9; It has a control circuit 12 that controls each circuit constituting the Kanji-Japanese conversion device 3. The Chinese-Japanese dictionary 4 is converted into an electronic file on an original disk or the like, and a GILT display or the like is used as the display device 5.

In such a control system configuration, let us consider, for example, a case where a dictionary search is performed for the character "Kan". First, document 1 is set on scanner 2, and document data A (FIG. 3) written on document 1 is scanned.

When the image data B is stored in the image memory 7, the pattern correction circuit 8 reads the image data B from the image memory 7, converts the image data B into image data C for pattern recognition according to the dot pattern of the image data B, and converts the image data B into pattern recognition image data C. The recognition image data C is stored in the pattern recognition memory 13. Next, the pattern recognition circuit 9 reads the image data C for pattern recognition from the memory 13 for pattern recognition, performs processing such as thinning on this, and also reads data from the memory 14 for character codes.
The data read from both memos 1J13 and 14 are matched to obtain the pattern from the kanji code memory. In this example, as shown in Figure 3, the kanji code for the character "kan" is '3441'.
It turns out that. If the kanji code is obtained in this way, the kanji dictionary search circuit 10 returns the kanji code 3441.
”, the Kanji dictionary 3 is referred to, and various character information such as the pronunciation, meaning, literal meaning, and number of strokes of the character corresponding to this kanji code is extracted. The character information extracted from the Kanji dictionary 3 is used to operate the control circuit 12. The data is then transferred to the display device 5, where, for example, the language "kan" is displayed as reading data 11, or one or more other data are displayed.
