Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain high-quality recorded images free of uneven feed or the like, by pressing a thermal recording hed against a drum when the part of a recording paper which part extends from a paper holder onto the outer periphery of the drum and the recording head face each other. CONSTITUTION:When a recording paper 2 is held by a paper holder 14 on a drum 2, a controlling means 8 rotates the drum 2 counterclockwise through a driving means 4, and when the part 11a of the paper 11 which part extends from then holder 14 onto the drum 2 is fed to a position for facing a thermal recording head 1, the drum 2 is once stopped. Under this condition, the part 11a is slightly swollen. However, when the head 1 is raised by a head-pressing means 3 and an ink sheet 10 so disposed that the leading end of the first color part is positioned and the paper 11 are pressed against the drum 2, the swollen part is moved to the side of a tension roller 15, and the head 1 is energized while rotating the drum 2 counterclockwise, thereby transferring. Transfer in the second color and transfer in the third color are similarly performed. Accordingly, high-quality recorded images free of uneven feed or color misregistration can be obtained.

In FIG. 4, 101 is a thermal head, which is held in pressure contact with the drum 102 via an ink sheet 105 and a recording paper 104. Yellow, magenta, and cyan inks are sequentially applied to the ink sheet 105, which is supplied from a supply reel 106 and taken up by a take-up reeler 107. A drum 102 is rotatably held around a shaft 102a, and is driven in steps by a drum drive motor to feed the recording paper 104 wound on its surface in the sub-scanning direction.

FIG. 4(a) shows the state immediately after the recording paper 104 is held in the paper holder 108 on the drum 102. From this state, the drum 102 rotates counterclockwise, the recording paper 104 is conveyed to the recording start position, and the drum 102 temporarily stops. Thereafter, the thermal recording head 101 rises and presses the ink sheet 105 and the recording paper 104, which have finished cuing up the minus color (for example, yellow) and are waiting. FIG. 4(b) shows the state at this time. When the thermal recording head is pressed, the drum 102 starts rotating counterclockwise in synchronization with the recording signal of the first color. At the same time, electricity is started to be applied to the thermal head 101, and the ink on the ink sheet 105 is transferred onto the recording paper 104. - When the recording of the colors is completed, the drum 102 stops, the thermal recording head 101 releases its pressure, and becomes a tube as shown in FIG. 4(c). Next, the drum 102 rotates until recording starts, and during this time the ink sheet 105 is positioned to begin with the second color (for example, magenta). When the recording paper 104 and the ink sheet 1O5 have been located, the thermal recording head 101 rises again to the state shown in FIG. 4(b), and recording of the second color is performed.

Because of this bulge, even if the drum 102 starts rotating, the conveyance of the recording paper 104 is unstable until the bulge is resolved, resulting in uneven paper feeding at the start of recording. In addition, the size of this bulge gradually becomes smaller as the bulge passes through the tension roller, so the pressing position of the thermal recording head 101 varies for each color, which may cause color misregistration. It had become.

In FIG. 2(a), the recording paper 11 is placed in the paper holder 14 on the drum 2.
From this state, the drum 2 is rotated counterclockwise by the drum rotation signal (A) from the control means 8, and the recording paper 11 is rotated by the thermal recording head 1.
The recording paper is conveyed from the paper holder 14 to a position where the portion 11a exposed to the drum 2 faces the drum 2.
is temporarily stopped and becomes the state shown in FIG. 2(b). Figure 3 (a
) is an enlarged view of FIG. 2(b), and in this state, a slight bulge has occurred in the portion 11a where the recording paper is exposed from the paper holder 14 to the outer periphery of the drum 2. Thereafter, the control means 8 sends a head pressing control signal (
B) is output, the thermal recording head 1 is raised, and the ink sheet 10 and the recording paper 11, which are waiting after the first color (for example, yellow) has finished cueing, are pressed together against the drum 2, and ). Figure 3(b) is similar to Figure 2(
This is an enlarged view of C), and as can be seen in this enlarged view, in this state, the recording head 1 is pressing the portion 11a where the recording paper is exposed to the outer periphery of the drum 2 from the paper holder 14, so this portion is You can see that it is in close contact with drum 2. Also, a bulge appears in the recording paper between the thermal recording head 1 and the tension roller 15, but this bulge is caused by the recording paper being conveyed counterclockwise while the thermal recording head 1 is being pressed by the drum 2. Therefore, it does not affect the recording in any way. Please note that depending on the stiffness of the recording paper 4, the feeding portion 11a
Although the size of the bulge differs, if the thermal recording head 1 is pressed against the drum 2 at a position approximately 3- from the portion 11a exposed to the outer periphery of the drum 2 from the paper holder 14, a sufficient adhesion effect can be obtained. was confirmed by experiment.

When the recording of the first color is completed as described above, the drum 2 stops and the thermal recording head 1 releases its pressure, as shown in Fig. 2 (
The state will be d). Next, the drum 2 rotates to the pressing start position of the thermal recording head 1, that is, the part 11a where the recording paper is exposed from the paper holder to the outer periphery of the drum faces the thermal recording head 1, and in the meantime, the ink sheet IO is The second color (for example, magenta) is cued. When the beginning of the recording paper 11 and ink sheet 10 is completed, the thermal recording head 1 rises again and becomes a tube as shown in FIG. Recording of the ogle begins. Thereafter, recording is performed sequentially up to the third color (for example, cyan), yellow, magenta,
A color hard copy is obtained by subtractive mixing of cyan.

Effects of the Invention As has been made clear from the above explanation, the recording apparatus of the present invention suppresses the portion where the recording paper begins to swell with the recording head and starts recording from that portion, thereby reducing uneven feeding.
It is possible to obtain high-quality recorded images without color shift, which is extremely useful in practice.
