Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、流体を密封するパツキンに係り、特
に、薬品用タンク蓋やLNG船などの船舶のハツ
チカバー等の如く、締付圧力が充分得られない蓋
用の密封部材として好適なパツキン(ガスケツ
ト)に関するものである。

ム材料を主体としたもの、種々の繊維材料の集合
体からなるもの等を用いられていたが、耐候性や
耐腐食性において不充分であり、長期間にわたり
密封機能を維持することは困難であつた。また従
来のものでは、概して硬質であり、締付不足の関
係から密封という本来の機能において非常に問題
があつた。つまり、この種のパツキン等が装着さ
れる機器側の蓋構造が、通常のパツキン・ガスケ
ツトに必要な複数本のボルト・ナツト等による締
付構造となつておらず、充分な締付圧力が得られ
ないことと従来のパツキン等が概して硬質であつ
たことが相俟つて前述のような困難な問題をまね
いていた。

本発明は係る事情に鑑みなされたもので、低い
締付圧力でも、充分に密封可能なパツキン(ガス
ケツト)を提供するものである。即ち、本発明は
独立気泡を有する発泡ポリエチレン樹脂からなる
紐状中芯材を複数本でもつて撚り合せて中芯とな
し、該中芯の周囲に弗素樹脂繊維からなる編組糸
の編組体にて形成せしめると共に該編組体へ弗素
樹脂粒子からなる潤滑剤を含有させてなるパツキ
ンを第1発明の要旨とするものであり、また第2
発明として独立気泡を有する発泡ポリエチレン樹
脂からなる板状中芯材を複数枚でもつて積層して
中芯となし、該中芯の周囲に弗素樹脂テープまた
は金属細線交絡体の少なくとも一方からなる中間
被覆層を設け、さらに石線繊維からなる編組糸の
編組体にて形成せしめると共に該編組体へ弗素樹
脂粒子からなる潤滑剤を含有させてなるパツキン
を要旨とするものである。

が密閉の空室構造となつており、吸水性や毛細管
現象がほとんどない特別な発泡ポリエチレン樹脂
を用いた。第1図の実施例では、この樹脂を紐状
中芯材として複数本でもつて撚り合せたものを中
芯1となした。また第2図に示したパツキンBの
中芯1′は、前記独立気泡を有する発泡ポリエチ
レン樹脂からなる板状中芯材を複数枚でもつて積
層した状態にしたものである。そして、この中芯
1の周囲に編組される編組糸2として、弗素樹脂
繊維を用い、潤滑剤4として弗素樹脂粒子を用い
た。

である。なお、パツキンBに示した中間被覆層5
としては、前述の弗素樹脂テープの他に、例え
ば、強度とより一層の弾性をパツキンに付加する
ときは、ニツト編された金属細線の交絡体を用い
ることが好ましく、また前述の素材を併用した、
即ち、中芯のまわりに弗素樹脂テープを巻き、そ
の外面に金属細線の交絡体を設けたものを中間被
覆層5としてもよい。さらに編組体3,3′へ含
有される潤滑剤4,4′は、編組体3,3′に分散
介在させているが、この手段としては、編組糸
2,2′によつて編まれた編組体3,3′を形成し
た後に潤滑剤4,4′を含浸させてもよいが、他
の手段として、潤滑剤4,4′を予め編組糸2,
2′の中へ含有しておいてから、編組体3,3′を
形成させることもできる。そしてこの潤滑剤4,
4′を用いる目的は、概してパツキン装着部分の
機器(タンク等)側の表面粗度が粗いときや錆び
ついていることが多く、このような場合、パツキ
ン自体に滑らかさを付与するためと、機器側表面
の凹凸を埋めて密封性を高めるためである。

不浸透であり、しかも該樹脂からなる紐状中芯材
を複数本でもつて撚り合せた中芯構成或いは該樹
脂からなる板状中芯材を複数枚でもつて積層した
中芯構成となしているため、中芯構造による構造
的バネ作用をも付与され、中芯を包囲する編組
体、潤滑剤等と相俟つて、パツキン、ガスケツト
分野のこれまでの常識では考えられない軽微な低
締付圧力にて、完全な密封機能を発揮した。

なし、該中芯の周囲に弗素樹脂テープまたは金属
細線交絡体の少なくとも一方からなる中間被覆層
を設け、さらに石綿繊維からなる編組糸の編組体
にて形成せしめると共に該編組体へ弗素樹脂粒子
からなる潤滑剤を含有させてなるパツキン。
