Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a connector which has necessary irreducible tensile strength while reducing the assembly cost by providing variation in thickness to the outer cylindrical periphery of a hood as a caulked part by making a step. CONSTITUTION:A mesh-shaped knurling tool is provided to the outer periphery of the rear end of a holder 4. Further, the reinforcing material 7a of an optical fiber cord 7 which is made of aramide fiber, etc., is spread in a flare shape and arranged at the knurling tool part of the holder 4 and the hood 6 as a caulking ring is run from above and caulked at the caulked part (step) 6a with a dedicated caulking tool, etc. An optical fiber is further mounted by one touch with a spring 3a held in a housing 3. When the connector is drawn out of the housing 3, a drawing-out ring 5 on the outer periphery of the hood 6 is slid to spread the holding spring 3a, thereby detaching the connector.

Conventional original fiber connectors are, for example,
As described in 001, by sandwiching and bonding a tensile strength member (such as aramid fiber) between a guide member and a holding member that holds the guide member, external force is directly applied to the optical fiber, causing changes in connector characteristics and optical fibers. The structure was such that the aramid fibers received force so as not to damage the fibers.

However, in this structure, adhesion is unavoidable, and although the yield strength of the optical fiber cord is improved, there are difficulties in workability. Although the cost of optical fiber connectors has been reduced in recent years, assembly costs have not decreased in proportion to the reduction in component costs, and this is due to the use of numerous adhesives.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned problems and provide a connector that maintains the necessary and sufficient tensile strength (yield strength) of an optical fiber connector while reducing assembly costs.

In order to achieve the above object, the original fiber connector of the present invention has, for example, a cylindrical holder inserted into the optical fiber fixed to the ferrule, and the outer circumference of the holder prevents the reinforcing material such as aramid fiber from being pulled out. For this reason, knurls such as cross stitches are provided in advance. The reinforcing material is then flared and placed over the holder. Furthermore, after moving the hood that also serves as a tightening ring, which has been previously inserted in the same way as the holder, to the outer periphery of the reinforcing material for the optical fiber that is flared in the holder, tighten the tightening part of the hood using a special tightening tool. wF) Melt. Therefore, the reinforcing material of the original fiber is clamped and fixed to the constricting portion of the holder and the hood, so that the strength of the original fiber can be maintained without using an adhesive. According to the results of experiments, it has been found that the above method can withstand a tensile force of several tens of kg, which is sufficient for practical use and has been evaluated as equivalent to the conventional technology using adhesives.

Furthermore, this optical connector can be attached to a housing 3 made of plastic or the like with a single touch using a spring 3a held therein. When pulling out the connector from the housing 3, by sliding the pull-out ring 5 on the outer periphery of the hood 6, the holding spring 3a is pushed out and the connector can be removed.

The optical fiber reinforcing material 7a is spread uniformly on the rear end of the holder provided with the knurling 4a, and the accommodating part 6a of the hood 6 is made slightly smaller than the attachment part of the pull-out ring 5 (with a step) to clarify the tightening range. , care has been taken to ensure that the deformation of the outer periphery of the hood 6 due to storage does not hinder the movement of the pull-out ring 5. The housing 3 and spring 3a shown in dashed lines in FIG. 2 are in a locked state, and the pull-out ring 5 and spring 5a shown in broken lines are in an unlocked state.

According to the present invention, the conventional process of bonding the ferrule and the optical fiber core, the process of tightening screws for each component, and the process of bonding and fixing reinforcing agents for improving the tensile strength of optical fiber connectors can be eased, and can be instantly performed using a tightening tool. As a result, it is possible to improve the strength, which is highly effective in reducing the cost of optical connectors. As for the reduction in reliability due to deterioration of the optical fiber due to the fibers, as is clear from the figure, it is confirmed that there is no problem since the core wire is not contained and only the reinforcing material is covered.
