A conventional optical fiber connector is, for example, Japanese Patent Publication No. 59-35001.
As described in, holding the tensile strength member (aramid fiber or the like) by the guide member and the pressing member that engages with the guide member,
By bonding, the aramid fiber receives a force so that an external force is directly applied to the optical fiber and the connector characteristics are not changed and the optical fiber is not damaged. However, in the case of this structure, it is inevitable to use the adhesive together, and the yield strength of the optical fiber cord is improved, but there is a problem in workability. Although the cost reduction of the optical fiber connector has been promoted in recent years, the assembly cost has not decreased despite the reduction of the component cost, which is due to the use of many adhesives.

An object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned problems, and to provide a connector which is necessary and has sufficient tensile strength (proof strength) of an optical fiber connector while reducing the assembly cost.

In order to achieve the above object, the optical fiber connector of the present invention, for example, a cylindrical holder is inserted into the optical fiber fixed to the ferrule, and the outer peripheral portion of the holder prevents the reinforcing material such as aramid fiber from coming off. For this purpose, knurls such as eyelets are provided beforehand. After that, the reinforcing material is flared and spread over the holder. Furthermore, after moving the hood, which is also inserted in the same way as the holder, that also serves as a female ring to the outer periphery of the reinforcing material of the optical fiber flared in the holder, fit the female part of the hood with a special tool. It Therefore, since the reinforcing material of the optical fiber is fixed while being held between the holder and the fitting portion of the hood, the proof stress of the optical fiber can be maintained without an adhesive. According to the results of experiments, it has been found that the above method can withstand a tensile force of several tens of kilograms, which is sufficient for practical use, and an evaluation equivalent to that of the conventional technique using an adhesive has been obtained.

In addition to merely improving the tensile strength, it is important that the connector is easy to attach and detach as an important function of the connector.
Therefore, in the present invention, in order to easily and surely perform the attachment / detachment work to / from the external housing, a step is provided in the portion which will be the caulking portion of the hood. As a result, when caulking the hood, even if deformation due to caulking (caulking bending) occurs, the allowable amount of deformation due to normal caulking (crimping) can be increased, and the pull-out ring for pulling out the connector from the housing Can be normally slid.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a sectional view of an embodiment of the present invention. The core wire of the optical fiber cord 7 is fixed to the ferrule 1 by adhesion, soldering, or fitting, and the frame 2 and the holder 4 are fixed by screw fixing on the outer side thereof, and the outer periphery of the rear end of the holder 4 is erected. Knurled eyes are provided. Further, the reinforcing material 7a such as the aramid fiber of the optical fiber cord 7 is flared and arranged on the knurled portion of the holder 4,
The hood 6 that also serves as a female ring is inserted from above, and the female portion (having a step) 6a of the hood 6 is fitted with a dedicated female tool or the like.

The optical connector can also be attached to the housing 3 made of plastic or the like with one touch by the spring 3a held therein. When pulling out the connector from the housing 3, by sliding the pulling ring 5 on the outer periphery of the hood 6, the holding spring 3a can be spread and detached.

FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of a portion of FIG. 1 and shows an embodiment of only the main part of the present invention. Spread uniformly the optical fiber reinforcement 7a at the rear end of the holder provided with the knurled 4a,
The fitting portion 6a of the hood 6 is made slightly smaller than the bonded portion of the pull-out ring 5 (a step is formed) to clarify the fitting range, and the deformation of the outer circumference of the hood 6 due to the fitting is caused by the pull-out ring 5.
It has been designed so that it does not hinder the movement of people. The housing 3 and the spring 3a shown by the chain double-dashed line in FIG. 2 show the locked state, and the extraction ring 5 and the spring 3a shown by the broken line show the unlocked state.

ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the conventional bonding process of a ferrule and an optical fiber core wire, the screwing bonding process of each component, and the adhesive fixing process of the reinforcing agent for improving the tensile strength of an optical fiber connector are eased, and it can be instantaneously done with a female tool. As a result, the strength can be improved, and the effect of reducing the cost of the optical connector is great. As is clear from the figure, it has been confirmed that there is no problem with respect to the decrease in reliability such as deterioration of the optical fiber due to the fact that the core wire is not attached and only the reinforcing material is attached.
