Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a dot matrix printer showing good cooling effect even in high-speed operation, by providing a cooling fan at least to the single end of a printing head in the moving direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:A coil 6 for opening a printing hammer is wound around a yoke 3. A suction fan 7a and an exhaust fan 7b are provided to both ends of a printing head assembly 10 in the sweep direction thereof and fixed to a printing head 10 by brackets 8, 9 in a direction for permitting wind to pass through the space surrounded by yokes 2, 3, a permanent magnet 11 nd a printing hammer. When a current is made to flow to the coil 6, a dot is printed on printing paper by the printing pin 5 mounted to the free end of the printing hammer through an ink ribbon. The coil 6 generates heat by this printing operation but is cooled by air sent by the suction fan 7a provided to the printing head 10, while heated air is exhausted out of the printing head 10 by the exhaust fan 7b.
