Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent dust on a disc from being adhered to a head by starting the head from a shifted position although the dust adhered to the head during floating is transferred to the disc at stop. CONSTITUTION:A floating type magnetic head 3 driven by a carriage 10 fitted to an arm 9 is stopped at a contact start stop CSS zone (a) while the disc 1 is stopped with the contact start stop CSS stopped, and the head is moved to a position deviated by a distance (c). In shifting the stop position and the start position in this way, the dust adhered to the head 3 during floating is transferred to the disc at its stop, but the dust is not adhered to the head at starting.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Summary] A contact start device used in a magnetic disk device.
This is a dirt prevention method for a stop (C5S) type magnetic head. By changing the start, stop, and stop positions of the C8S operation of the magnetic head, dust attached to the magnetic head during flight can be removed from the disk circle by the stop. The dust transferred to the disk surface was prevented from adhering to the magnetic head at the time of starting.

The magnetic head is of the CSS type, and the magnetic head, which is stopped on the disk disk, floats as the disk disk rotates, descends when the rotation stops, and stops on the disk disk. The location on the disk disk-L where this C8S operation is performed is called the C8S zone, and is provided on either the inner or outer circumference of the disk disk.

Although magnetic disk devices are sealed to prevent dust from entering, it is difficult to completely remove minute dust from inside the device during manufacturing. As a result, dust adheres to the flying magnetic head, impairing the flying ability of the head and causing head crashes. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the magnetic head from becoming contaminated.

Since the magnetic head 3 is of a floating type as described later, when the disk disk l stops rotating, it is on the disk disk 1 as shown in FIG.
It floats up as shown in Figure (C) and then stops rotating again as shown in Figure 3 (C).
It stops on the disk l as shown in +-1). This operating position is usually determined either on the inner side or the outer side of the disc 1, and this area is defined as the C8S zone a.
(In the figure, it is installed on the inner side.) The area where the levitated magnetic head 3 seeks on the disk disk l and reads/writes data is called a data zone.

The magnetic head 3 is incorporated into an HDA (head disk assembly) together with a disk disk l, and the inside of the HDA is hermetically sealed and clean air is constantly supplied to maintain cleanliness. However, it is impossible to manufacture an HDA from which dust and the like have been completely removed, and a small amount of dust still flies inside.

During read/write, the flying height of the magnetic head 9 relative to the disk medium 3 is extremely small, and therefore, dust flying inside the HDA flows in from the tapered surface 5 and adheres to the slider air bearing surface 4. When the C8S is stopped, dust (dirt) adhering to the slider flying surface is rubbed by the disk disk l and transferred to the CSS zone a on the disk disk 1.

In FIG. 1, the magnetic head 3 indicated by the solid line is a C8S 5
TOP position is indicated, and the floating magnetic head 3 moves to C8S on the disk disk 1 when the rotation of the disk disk 1 stops.
Stop in zone a. Furthermore, this magnetic head 3 is moved by a position C as shown by the dotted line (the amount of the slider air bearing surface 4), so that it floats above the position of the magnetic head 3 at the start of C8S. 5TOP position and CS
The 5TART position of S can be changed, and the dust accumulated on disk disk 1 at the time of CSS 5TOP is removed from C8S.
It was made so that it would not adhere to the magnetic head 3 during the 5TART.

That is, in the present invention, in the C8S operation of the magnetic head 3, the CSS 5TOP position and the CSS 5TART position are different, and the disk disk 1 transferred from the magnetic head (slider) 3 flying at the time of the CSS 5TOP. The dust on the top does not adhere to the magnetic head 3 during the 5TART of the C8S because the position of the magnetic head 3 is different from the 5TOP position.

The magnetic head 3 is of a floating type, and is attached to an arm 9 via a pressure spring 8, as shown in FIG. 2(b), and is driven by a carriage 10. The magnetic head 3 shown in FIG. 2(A) is in a state where the magnetic head 3, which is floating at the time of C8S 5TOP, is stopped in the C8S zone a of the disk disk l due to the rotation of the disk disk 1 being stopped. . Roughly,
This magnetic head 3 is moved to the dotted line position shifted by C. For this purpose, the carriage 10 is moved using a signal different from the servo information. Note that 11 is a stopper that comes into contact with the arm 9 and stops. Due to the support structure of the pressure spring 8, the magnetic head 3 receives a weak force vertically as shown in FIG. There is no problem in doing so.

In the 5TART of cs's operation, the magnetic head 3
Since the magnetic head 3 flies from a position shifted from the TOP position, the magnetic head 3 flies from a position where there is no dust transferred from the magnetic head 3 during the 5TOP of the C8S operation. Therefore, the magnetic head 3 does not adhere to the dust that has been transferred onto the disk disk l.

By changing the 5TOP position of the C8S operation and the STA RT position of the C8S operation as described above, the dust transferred from the magnetic head 3 to the disk disk 1 at the 5TOP of the C8S operation is transferred to the magnetic head 3 of the CSS operation. 5TART
