Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform attachment and detachment of a head to the torch body simply and surely by composing the taper sealing part in conical shape and yet in plural pieces by the head having a root end part and by the body part having the tip part in the shape corresponding to the head root end part. CONSTITUTION:The three taper sealing parts 6, 7, 8 of a head 2 and the reverse taper sealing parts 6a, 7a, 8a of the body 1 are made to coincide with each other by fixing the both each other with a screw 3 by fitting the head 2 to the tip of the body 1. The chambers C1, C2 may be composed for feeding a cooling water and gas respectively by forming annular grooves 9a, 10b among the sealing parts. In this way the head of the torch can be attached and detached simply and surely.

<Conventional technology> Conventional plasma torches have an integrated torch head and torch body, so if the electrodes inside the head become worn out, the entire torch consisting of the head and body must be completely disassembled. However, the disadvantage was that the electrodes had to be replaced, which was very time-consuming.

In order to improve this conventional drawback, for example, a technique as shown in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. EiO-5989 has recently been developed. However, this technology has many parts such as guide bins, electrical connection bins, reaction gas supply holes, cooling water supply holes, cooling completion water discharge holes, and connection bin insertion holes on the circumferential plane of the head and body. Because the head and body were connected through a seal such as an O-ring seal so that these items would match each other, it took time and effort to align and insert the O-ring, and the work efficiency was poor. Even after the torch and the podium were connected, gas and water sometimes leaked from the O-ring etc., which caused damage to the torch.

As described above, in the plasma torch according to the present invention, a plurality of circumferential annular chambers are formed at the joint between the head and the body of the torch, and these chambers are used as gas and water supply chambers. Since it is configured so that it can be used, there is no need for alignment at all when attaching the head to the torch body, and the seal between the body and head is performed with several wide tapered surfaces, so it is stable and reliable. Furthermore, since the electrical connection between the two is made at the contact surface of the tapered seal, a large contact surface area can be obtained, and the current can be reliably supplied.
