Artificial lighting has come into widespread use in order to artificially cultivate plants in a stable manner unaffected by weather conditions, but until the light intensity reaches the light saturation point of each plant, Since photosynthesis in plants is promoted in almost linear proportion to the intensity of light, in order to promote artificial growth, extremely high-intensity lighting must be used continuously for long periods of time. The disadvantage is that it requires a large amount of lighting energy.

Even if continuous light is applied, rhythmic light irradiation that repeatedly flashes in short periods of time can promote the growth rate of plants, and as shown in Figure 4, the shorter the irradiation time in one cycle, the faster the growth rate will be. It is known that the growth rate ratio is large. The present invention provides a discharge lamp lighting device having an AC power supply, a discharge lamp, and a choke coil for limiting the current flowing from the AC power supply to the discharge lamp, in which the phase of the AC power supply is detected to turn on and off.
By connecting a switch to be turned on in parallel with the discharge lamp, current is rhythmically supplied to the discharge lamp, causing the discharge lamp to emit light rhythmically.

1st r! ! In A, current is supplied from an AC power supply 1 to a discharge lamp 3 through a choke coil 2, but by providing a switch 4 that turns on and off by detecting the voltage phase of the AC power supply 1, the current flowing to the discharge lamp 3 can be controlled. is under control. Therefore, when the switch 4 is turned on, the current flowing through the choke coil 2 flows through the switch 4, and no current flows through the discharge lamp 3, which stops emitting light. Next, when the switch 4 is turned off, the current flowing through the choke coil 2 flows again into the discharge lamp 3, turning it on. Since the discharge lamp 3 can be turned off and on by turning the switch 4 on and off in this way, rhythmic illumination can be obtained from the discharge lamp 3.

Depending on the phase of the power supply generated between the output of the voltage divider 9 connected in parallel with the full-wave rectifier 6 and dividing its output, and the output of the voltage divider 10 connected in parallel with the capacitor 8 and dividing its output. The voltage change applied to the transistor 11 causes the transistor 11 to repeatedly turn on and off, and the current that was flowing to the discharge lamp 3 through the choke coil 2 passes through the full-wave rectifier 12 connected in parallel with the discharge lamp 3 and returns to the above-mentioned state. The current flows into transistor 11. Therefore, a current flows through the discharge lamp 5 to repeatedly turn on and off in accordance with the phase of the AC power supply 1, and a rhythmic light output is obtained. The waveforms of each characteristic in this example are shown in FIG. 3, where (&) indicates the discharge lamp current, (b) indicates the discharge lamp voltage, and (C) indicates the light output. Note that the discharge lamp lighting device according to the present invention rhythmically lights the discharge lamps in synchronization with the phase of the power supply, so a large number of discharge lamps connected in parallel to the same power supply can be turned on or off at the same time to provide rhythmic lighting. It is possible to do so.

As described above, the discharge lamp lighting device according to the present invention includes an AC power source, a discharge lamp, and a choke coil for limiting the current flowing from the AC power source to the discharge lamp. By connecting a switch that turns on and off by detecting the phase in parallel with the above discharge lamp, the discharge lamp can emit light rhythmically in synchronization with the phase of the AC power supply, so it is possible to grow plants with less lighting power. The growth can be promoted. Furthermore, since the present invention rhythmically lights the discharge lamps in synchronization with the voltage of the AC power supply, it is possible to rhythmically illuminate a large area where many discharge lamps are connected in parallel to the same power supply. It can be carried out.
