Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for positioning a recording/reproducing and erasing cores so as to simplify the manufacturing works of a magnetic head, by providing plural grooves for forming ring shapes in the recording/ reproducing and erasing cores in at least symmetrical pairs and joining the cores to one body. CONSTITUTION:Notched grooves 5 and 7 are respectively provided in recording/ reproducing magnetic cores 1 and 1' and erasing magnetic cores 2 and 2' and the grooves 5 and 7 are filled with low melting point glass. Then two grooves 12 for forming ring shapes and a nonmagnetic layer 11 by sputtering are formed in and on the cores 1 and 2. Then the cores 1 and 2 with the grooves 12 and cores 1' and 2' without groove are respectively put together and the glass filling the grooves 5 and 7 are welded together in the shape of rings under a high- temperature atmosphere, and thus, gaps 3 and 4 are formed. Then the ring- shaped core having the recording/reproducing gap 3 and the other ring-shaped core having the erasing gap 4 are joined together by means of a resin bonding agent with a nonmagnetic body 6 in between and a deviation (t) at the center.
