Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a smaller depth room unit of an air conditioner by making the length of a through-flow fan larger than that of a heat exchanger, and making the lower part of the heat exchanger thinner than other parts, in the back of which the through-flow fan is installed. CONSTITUTION:The lower part and its proximity of a heat exchanger 4 is made thinner than other parts, and its length is made greater than that o9f a through-flow fan 5 to provide a larger drafting area and a less drafting resistance. The length F of a cabinet 1 containing the through-flow fan 5, fan motor 7 and others is made not too large, while the length E of a cosmetic cover 3 covering the heat exchanger 4, electricals box 9 and others is made larger so that the heat exchanger 4 which is larger lengthwise may be housed in order to reduce the drafting resistance, to increase the heat conduction area and to improve the efficiency of a product.

A horizontally long cross-flow fan is used as the blower, and the heat exchanger is placed in front of the fan, and the length of the cross-flow fan is made wider than the length of the heat exchanger. This is done by placing a cross-flow fan on the back side.

In such a configuration, the lateral length of the heat exchanger 4 is made larger than the length of the cross-flow fan 5 as shown in FIG.
By increasing the ventilation area, the ventilation resistance of the heat exchanger 4 is reduced. In the example, one side of the heat exchanger was made 3 cm larger than that of the once-through fan, and a reduction in ventilation resistance of about 5% was achieved. Furthermore, if the air conditioner is not required to be small, both sides of the heat exchanger can be made larger than the cross-flow fan, so that the ventilation resistance can be made smaller than that on one side.

The fan cover 2, which has one side in contact with the heat exchanger 4 and also serves as a cover for the once-through fan 5, has the side that contacts the heat exchanger 4 laterally expanded from the part that covers the once-through fan 5, and is close to the once-through fan 4. A gutter portion formed by ribs 2b is provided to guide dew flowing out from the heat exchanger 4 to the dew receiving tray 8.

Because of the above configuration, the length F of the cabinet 1 housing the cross-flow fan 4, fan motor 7, etc. is not very large, and the heat exchanger 4. Length E of the decorative cover that covers the electrical box, etc.
By increasing the size, a large heat exchanger 4 can be accommodated in the longitudinal direction, reducing ventilation resistance and increasing the heat transfer area, thereby improving the efficiency of the product.

Also, the fact that the length F of the cabinet is not that long is 1.
When installed on a wall between Japan and Japan, there are fewer restrictions on installation due to the pillars protruding from the wall surface, and the installation location can be freely selected. Furthermore, visually, the length F of the cabinet 1 is less than the length E of the decorative cover 3, so only the decorative cover 3 is visible, making the entire product appear thinner and less oppressive.6 The heat exchanger 4 has an inclined lower end. Since the cross-flow fan 5 is placed on the back of this notch, heat exchange I! Since it can be made thinner without making &7 smaller, there is no performance deterioration due to thinning.
