Abstract

PURPOSE:To revise automatically the operating mode without interrupting power supply by providing a means for detecting a dial-enable signal or an incoming signal transmitted from a digital exchange to apply initial setting. CONSTITUTION:When a dial-enable signal is returned via a digital subscriber line SL, a signal detection circuit DET detects the dial-enable signal received by a transmission/reception circuit TR2 and inputs a detection signal (d) to a terminal NMI of a processor PU. The processor PU receiving the signal (d) starts the initial setting processing and applies initial setting to a transmission/reception circuit TR1 based on operating mode (m) set in a buffer memory BM. Then when an incoming signal is transmitted via the subscriber line SL in case of the incoming to the terminal DTE, the circuit DET detects the incoming signal received by the circuit TR2 and inputs the signal (d) to the terminal NMI of the processor PU. The processor PU applies initial setting to the circuit TR1 or the like based on the preset operating mode information (m).

FIG. 2 is a diagram showing an example of an initial setting method for a conventional digital line termination device. In FIG. 2, a digital line termination device DCE connects a digital data terminal DTE and a digital subscriber line SL. Operation mode information m corresponding to the accommodated digital data terminal DT is preset in the digital line termination device DCE. When the digital line termination device DCE is powered on in such a state, the power-on reset signal p is input to the power-on reset terminal POR of the processor PU.

One way to solve this problem is to add a function to the processor that periodically monitors the operating mode information set in the buffer memory, and when it detects that the operating mode information has been updated, automatically Reinitialization is also considered, but such a solution would require extra functionality on the processor.
