At present, electronic desk calculators have become very popular and are becoming indispensable computing instruments for commercial and industrial calculations. In particular, with the development of ICs, LSIs, MOSs, LCDs, etc., the volumes of various electronic computers have become progressively smaller and thinner, and the costs have also become cheaper due to the mass production of the above-mentioned parts. However, when performing calculations using a conventional electronic desktop calculator, it was necessary to operate keys (or keys) representing numbers, codes, etc. with one finger to provide input signals to the calculator to perform calculations.
In this case, it was generally necessary to use writing paper and writing utensils to record and check the calculations. For this reason, when using an electronic computer, it was necessary to operate the keys on the keyboard with one hand and hold a writing utensil with the other hand to write down numbers, calculation formulas, etc. on paper, which was extremely inconvenient in terms of operation. . These drawbacks do not occur often with large electronic desktop calculators that come with paper rolls and a printer, but pocket-type small calculators that do not have such a printer always suffer from the above inconvenience. . In order to prevent the writing implement from being lost when using a calculator, an electronic calculation pen in which the calculator and the writing implement are integrated has been proposed, but when operating such an electronic calculation pen, it is still necessary to use them separately. Since it is necessary to operate keys and write, and these two operations are independent operations, operational inconvenience still exists. In other words, such an electronic calculator pen cannot be used to write while the key is being operated, and as a writing instrument, the key cannot be operated while the pen is being used as a writing instrument. Other calculators have been proposed in which a special writing instrument is connected to an electronic computer via a conductive wire, and by writing numbers, codes, etc. with this writing instrument, the computer performs calculations and display functions. Such calculators are complicated and large in size, require the use of a specific writing board, and the numbers, formulas, etc. that are written down are only displayed in small portions or for a while. , it was not very practical because it was not possible to record and save all the numbers and formulas back and forth.

FIG. 2 shows a block diagram of the internal mechanism of this electronic computing pen, in which numeral 51 indicates a signal input conversion section and numeral 52 indicates a conventional electronic computing section. Conventional electronic desktop calculators have a plurality of pre-set and arranged keys that function only as switches, and are used as an input section of the calculator to send signals to the arithmetic section and display section of the calculator to perform calculations and display operations. However, in this invention, the conventional keyboard described above is completely eliminated, two signal switches are operated using the writing action of the tip of a writing instrument, and the electrical signals generated by the action of these switches are transmitted to a computer. The input signal is inputted into the calculation and display circuit to perform calculation and display operations. That is, the present invention connects the signal input conversion section 51 to the input end of the calculation section 51 in place of the conventional keyboard section, and uses the pen tip, which is the input signal generation end of the input conversion section 51, to write on any writing surface. By directly writing numbers, codes, etc. on the computer, a signal corresponding to the signal sent out from the keyboard of a conventional electronic desktop calculator is generated through a series of conversion, comparison, storage, decoding, outputting, etc. A computer configured to receive input and perform arithmetic operations.

The input terminal of the signal input conversion section 51 is the input section 5A.
This is the part that converts the writing motion of the pen tip into an electrical signal and inputs it to the conversion section 51. How the above-mentioned writing motion generates an electrical signal will be described later. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, this input section 5A includes, for example, microswitches 51a and 51.
``1'' and ``0'' signals are generated by the opening and closing operations of contacts such as b (for example, when writing vertical strokes of characters, ``1'' is
(signal that generates "0" when writing a horizontal stroke), these "1" and "0" signals enter the comparing section 5B and the sequential section 5C, respectively, and here the comparing section 5B and the sequential section 5C
The type of input signal (“1”)
and "0" signals) and the order of occurrence to identify the "1" and "0" signals and the 4-bit code signal constituted by these, and
After counting the number of bits and taking the interface in the buffer section 5D, the above signal is temporarily stored in the temporary storage section 5E, and a preset code (in this embodiment, 4 bits) is stored in the temporary storage section 5E. When the signal of the last bit of the 4-bit signal (including The switch circuit corresponding to the input key on the keyboard of the computer is closed and an electrical signal is input to the computer section 52, which performs calculations and display operations similar to conventional ones. In other words, the action of writing a numeric code based on a specific coded stroke on lead 3 generates a corresponding code signal. For example, if this code is a 4-bit code, there are 16 combinations of these bits. In other words, 16 codes are obtained, and these 16 codes are arranged in the conventional binary system as numbers "0" to "9" and signs "+", "-",
Taking "×", "÷", "=", and "C" (clear) as representatives, the signals obtained from these codes are input into the computer section 52 in place of the key operation of a conventional computer, and the codes The electric circuit of the number and code corresponding to is activated, and through the action of related circuits such as the arithmetic section 5G, counter 5H, and power supply 5J of the calculator section 52, the calculation is performed, and the number and answer are displayed on the display section 5K. Since this is the same as a conventional electronic desktop calculator, the explanation will be omitted.

FIG. 3 shows an example of the electric circuit of the input conversion section 51, and in this circuit, parts corresponding to those in the above block diagram are denoted by the same symbols. Since this circuit is easily understood by those skilled in the art, a detailed description thereof will be omitted. Note that the electric circuit of the computer section 52 is a well-known technique that can be applied directly to the circuits of various conventional electronic computers, and therefore its explanation will be omitted. In short, the main feature of the present invention is to skillfully combine the circuit of the input conversion section 51 and the conventional electronic computer circuit 52, and write numerical codes using a novel structure of the tip of the writing instrument, which will be described later. The structure is such that an electric signal is generated, decoded by a decoder, and then input to a computer circuit to achieve the purpose of displaying calculations. Based on this basic concept, the writing motion of a writing instrument is used as a signal input means, and there is no need to press a key or use a specific writing paper or writing board, and instead use other mechanical or electrical reading devices. There has never been an electronic calculator that allows a computer to perform calculations without the need to do so. Although the electric circuit in the above embodiment is composed of an IC, a transistor, a diode, etc., in actuality, LSI, IC, etc. can be used to achieve miniaturization.

4 and 5 show an embodiment of the structure of the signal input part of the tip of the writing instrument, and in the figures, the writing instrument 1
The tip 2 at the pointed end is attached to the brush barrel 1 by means such as a screw.
For example, a ballpoint pen lead 3 is inserted into the center hole 21 of the tip 2 into the center of a ball-and-socket joint 23 supported inside the tip 2 via a support seat 22, and the joint 23 is used as a fulcrum. It is supported so that it can swing in any direction. Point 31 of the core 3
protrudes outside the tip 2, and the other end is attached to the brush barrel 1.
It extends upwardly into the interior of the tip. An annular seat 24 is screwed into the interior of the brush barrel 1 so as to come into contact with the inner end of the tip 2, and an elastic ring 25 made of rubber or the like is fitted into its center hole. The inner end of the core 3 passes through the center hole of this ring 25 and extends upwardly, and is connected to the core 3 by this ring 25 and a ball and socket joint 23.
is always supported vertically. When the tip 31 of the lead 3 receives writing pressure during writing, this pressure and the direction of the writing action cause the lead 3 to elasticize its rear end using the ball joint 23 as a fulcrum, as shown by the chain line in FIG. It is configured to press the ring 25 and tilt it in the opposite direction to the above direction. A pair of micro switches 51a and 51b are arranged on the upper surface of the annular seat 24 at an angle of 90 degrees to each other (see FIG. 5).
is installed. Furthermore, a spacer 26 is provided between the pair of microswitches 51a and 51b. The above pair of micro switches 51
a, 51b are "0" in the input section 5A of FIG.
Or it is a switch that generates a signal of "1",
When the tip 31 of the lead 3 writes strokes vertically from top to bottom and horizontally from left to right, switch 5 is selected.
1a and 51b to generate "0" and "1" signals. For this reason, it is necessary to limit the writing direction of the writing instrument. Therefore, when using the brush barrel 1, there is a first
As shown in the figure, a mark 11 indicating the direction is engraved. During writing, the lead 3 tilts and swings about the joint 23 as a fulcrum, presses the elastic ring 25 to deform it, and the rear end of the lead presses the corresponding micro switch 51a or 51b to activate it. When the writing pressure is released, that is, when writing is stopped, the lead 3 moves away from the switch 51a or 51b due to the recovery action of the elastic ring 25 and returns to its original vertical neutral position.

The calculation pen according to the present invention operates the switches 51a and 51b by the action of writing strokes on the lead, and the pen is set to "0".
Alternatively, the signal "1" is sent to the input conversion section 51 and converted into an input signal of the computer circuit 52 to achieve the purpose of calculation, so the numbers and codes to be written are written according to the strokes and order selected in advance. It is necessary to write it down. In this example, each number and code is combined with four strokes representing each 4-bit code, and the vertical and horizontal strokes in the strokes are inputs of "1" and "0", respectively. Since it is meant to represent a signal, it is necessary to give each number and sign a different stroke, stroke order, and code. An example of this combination of strokes and codes is shown in FIG.
What I would like to explain here is that the strokes in Figure 6 are not ideal, but they do not necessarily have to be this way. It is clear that the code can be redesigned in various ways provided that it does not result in duplication.
Another method would be to change the design of the circuit of the input conversion section and create a combination of codes of 4 or more bits. These can be designed according to demand in the same way as software such as computer programs. In short, the most important feature of this invention is that, instead of operating the keyboard of a conventional calculator, the input signal is sent to the computer circuit by the writing motion of the tip of a writing instrument to perform calculation and display functions. When writing, it is very convenient because it can be written on any paper or any writable surface without using a specific writing board. If developed based on this concept, it can be used not only as an electronic desktop calculator or calculation pen, but also as an educational toy or device that displays numbers, letters, etc. when writing. Therefore, the combination of the above strokes is not an important issue. Further, the electronic pen according to the present invention can be used as a regular writing instrument. In this case, just turn the switch on cap 8 to the OFF position. Furthermore, the input conversion section 51 of this electronic pen
is built into a fountain pen-shaped writing barrel, and the calculator unit 52 is placed in a separately constructed calculator, and the writing instrument not provided with the calculator unit is connected to the input conversion unit 51 via a conductive wire.
It can also be structured to connect to a computer without one. In this case, since the calculator and electronic pen are separate, it is a little more inconvenient when carried than when the calculator and writing instrument are integrated, but there are other advantages of achieving the functions and effects of calculation and display with the writing action. are exactly the same.
