Abstract

PURPOSE:To coat uniformly without providing an agitator by providing ruggedness for agitating liquid on the surface of a coating roller when a liquid paint is coated on a body to be coated by transferring the paint onto a transfer roller through the coating roller. CONSTITUTION:A coating roll 1 is immersed in a liquid paint 5 in a paint vessel 4, and the paint 5 is transferred onto a transfer roll 2 by rotating the coating roll 1. The paint 5 is coated on a body 3 to be coated by the transfer roll 2. In this device, a spiral groove is formed on the surface of the coating roll 1 to provide continuous spiral ruggedness 1a. Consequently, since the paint 5 is agitated by the rotation of the painting roll 1 and simultaneously the paint 5 is transferred to the transfer roll 2, the paint 5 is always kept at a fixed concn., and the body 3 to be coated is coated in specified film thickness.

In the above configuration, when the coating roller 1 is rotated by a drive means (not shown), the unevenness 1a on the surface of the coating roller 1 moves the coating material 5 in the coating tank 4 along the spiral shape, and agitates the coating material 5. At the same time, the paint adhering to the surface of the application roller 1 is transferred to the transfer roller 2, and further adhered to the object to be coated 3 via the transfer roller.

In FIG. 3, the reference numeral 3' indicates a transfer roller having the same structure as the transfer roller 2, or a printing roller having letters or the like formed on its surface. A platen roller 8 whose surface is coated with a D layer made of an elastic material such as rubber is disposed at a position facing the roller 3' and pressed against the roller 3' by a predetermined pressure contact force. A sheet body 9 is passing between rollers 8. The sheet body 9 is wound around left and right take-up rerollers 6 and 7, and the sheet body 9 is conveyed by rotationally driving either of these take-up rerollers 6 (7). Also, appropriate tension is applied to the sheet body 9 by right and left pinch rollers 10, 10 so that the sheet body 9 passes straight between the roller 3' and the platen mee 98.

In the above configuration, when the coating roller 1 is rotated while conveying the sheet body 9, the coating roller 1 agitates the coating material 5 and supplies the coating material to the roller 3' via the transfer roller 2. The applied paint is sequentially and uniformly applied to the surface of the sheet body 9 so as to have a constant film thickness.
