[Claims] 1. A case, a base extending laterally from the case, a drive motor assembly provided in the case, and a drive driven by the motor assembly and vertically penetrating the base. a generally cylindrical, open top portion having a shaft, a bottom wall, and a tubular member vertically disposed therein, the top of the drive shaft protruding from the tubular member when the tank is installed on the base; a tank having: a sleeve provided around the tubular member; a coupling means provided between the sleeve and the protruding portion of the drive shaft for driving the sleeve by the drive shaft; and a coupling means attached to the sleeve. a shaped blade, a finger projecting from the bottom of the tank, and a recess in the base to engage the finger to position the tank in position relative to the base. a stop member, a removable lid mounted on the tank to close the tank, a locking ring connecting the lid and the tank such that the lid is pivotable to a certain extent relative to the tank; an abutting means provided on the case and cooperating with the locking ring to prevent the tank from separating from the base when the tank is in the operating position; A processing device for cutting and kneading foodstuffs, etc., comprising a position detector that prevents energization of the motor assembly when the motor assembly is not in position. 2 consisting of a presence detector that cooperates with the finger projecting from the tank bottom and the recess in the base to prevent energization of the motor assembly when the tank is not in an operating position relative to the base; A processing device according to claim 1, characterized in that: 3. The processing apparatus of claim 1, wherein said motor assembly is controlled by an on-off switch and comprises means for adjusting the speed of said motor assembly.
