Paper for line printers generally weighs between 200 and 2000
It is used in sheets that are folded and packed in boxes. If the paper runs out during printing, the printer automatically stops, and in this stopped state, the operator connects the beginning of the new paper to the end of the old paper using adhesive tape. This type of connection between old and new paper is performed using a paper connector built into the printer. FIG. 1 is a sectional view schematically showing only the relevant parts of a line printer incorporating such a paper connector. The paper P is folded and packed in a box, and is sent from the paper supply section A to the printing mechanism B, which consists of a platen, a type drum, and a hammer.
The paper is loaded through the paper feed tractor C and sent upward. A paper connector 1 is provided between the hopper A and the printing mechanism B, and when the paper P is finished during printing, the end of the old paper stops at a predetermined position of the paper connector 1. ing. In this state, the operator must close the cover D on the front of the device.
Open the paper connector 1 and connect the starting edge of the new paper to the end of the old paper using adhesive tape as described above. When adhering this tape, the operator first adsorbs both the old and new papers to be connected using the adsorption means attached to the paper connection surface of the paper connector 1, positions their starting and ending ends on the alignment guideline, and aligns them. Afterwards, paste the adhesive tape along the butting surfaces of both sheets. After pasting, cut off the extra length of adhesive tape that protrudes from both sides of the paper, for example on one side, with a cutter embedded in the paper connection surface so that it can be taken in and out.
The remaining tape on one side is wrapped around the back side of the paper and pasted. After the connection between the old and new sheets is completed through the above-described work procedure, and the paper suction force of the paper connector 1 is released, the paper can run.

However, this conventional paper connection configuration has the following two problems. That is, one problem is that the extra length of the tape that protrudes from both sides of the paper sticks to the paper connection surface, and it is troublesome to have to peel off the stuck extra tape each time. One is that some of the glue from the extra length of tape attached may sometimes remain attached to the corresponding part of the paper connection surface.
The problem is that the accumulated glue imparts resistance to the paper running on the paper connection surface, obstructing the running operation, or causing the paper to be cut unnecessarily at the perforation. Conventionally, the adhered glue was removed periodically, but this work was also very complicated. This problem can occur in places with a large amount of printing, requiring the paper connection process to be performed approximately 5 times/hour, several tens of times.
It was important because it was done quite often (times/day).

Therefore, the purpose of this invention is to solve the above-mentioned conventional problems, and in order to achieve this purpose, according to the present invention, the end of the old paper and the beginning of the new paper on the paper connection surface are separated. A feature is that a part of the guideline for positioning with the camera is made of a material that cannot be bonded with tape.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing the configuration of an example of a paper connector to which this invention is applied. The paper connector 11 has a suction means (not shown), a cutter 12, a positioning guideline 13, etc. than the conventional one. There is no difference. However, according to the feature of this invention, a plate piece 14 made of a material that cannot be connected with tape, for example, Teflon-treated, is embedded in the paper connecting surface 11 on the opposite side of the alignment guideline 13 from the side where the cutter is installed. . This Teflon-treated plate piece 14 is preferably made relatively long in consideration of the use of various paper sizes.

According to this paper connection surface configuration, when the starting and ending ends of both old and new papers P 1 and P 2 are connected with adhesive tape 15, the extra length of tape 1 that protrudes from both sides of the paper
5a does not stick to the paper connection surface 11 due to the presence of the Teflon-treated plate piece 14. Therefore, there is no need to peel off the extra length tape 15a as in the conventional case.
Furthermore, since the adhesive of the tape does not adhere, there is no need to remove it, which simplifies the paper connection work. In addition,
Extra length tape 15b protruding from the cutter 12 side
is attached to the cutter 12 itself and is cut by it.

As is clear from the above description, the paper connector of this invention is characterized in that the paper connection surface is made of a material that prevents the extra length of the tape protruding from the paper from adhering to it. , when connecting old and new paper, it is possible to omit the work of peeling off the excess length of the tape from the paper connection surface and the work of removing the tape glue, improving work efficiency, and also solving the problem of paper running due to the tape glue, which was a conventional problem. Obstacles can also be resolved. Therefore, this invention can be very effectively applied to line printers and the like.
