The display device of a liquid crystal watch has a liquid crystal cell sandwiched between polarizing plates stacked on top and bottom, and some are equipped with a self-luminous illumination device to make the characters visible even at night. As a type of such lighting device, the present applicant has proposed a device in which a lighting device sealed with a self-luminous paint made of a radioactive substance is disposed below a liquid crystal display device.

This device has the disadvantage that the overall thickness is large because the illumination device is disposed below the liquid crystal display device. Furthermore, in this device, a lid is provided on the top surface of the self-luminous paint, and since the illumination is transmitted through the lid, the light is attenuated and cannot be illuminated brightly.

The purpose of this invention is to reduce the thickness of the lighting device, eliminate the leakage of light emitted from the self-luminous paint, improve reflection efficiency, and further improve the lighting effect, thereby providing a lighting device for an LCD watch using self-luminous paint. That's true. The structure of the present invention is that a reflective member is provided on the lower side of the liquid crystal display device, and promethium is added to the periphery of the reflective member.
147, and the light from the self-luminous paint is reflected by the reflective coating layer of the reflective member and the reflective plate to illuminate the liquid crystal display device above.

以下図面を参照して説明する。 This will be explained below with reference to the drawings.

With the above structure, the light emitted from the self-luminous paint 9 is reflected on the reflective coating layer 13 of the reflective member 8 and the reflective plate 11, regardless of whether it is day or night.
The liquid crystal cells 2 and 3 are directly illuminated from below through the window 7, making it possible to clearly see the characters. Moreover, since the luminescent agent is dispersed within the reflective member 8, the luminescent agent is excited by the light from the self-luminous paint and shines, further improving the illumination effect.

FIG. 4 and FIG. 5 show another embodiment of the present invention, in which the same parts as in the previous example are denoted by the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof will be omitted. In this example, a white luminescent coating layer 10 is applied to the entire upper surface of the reflective member 8. With this configuration, the illumination effect is improved and it is possible to see more clearly. Furthermore, during the daytime, the white phosphorescent coating layer 10 provided on the top surface of the reflective member 8 blocks the interior and is excited by external light to glow, so that the boundary line 24 between the reflective coating layer portion and the window 7 fades, causing both parts to fade. It is possible to make the divisions between the two areas unclear and make the entire surface appear uniform and monochromatic.

As is clear from the above, according to the present invention, the light emitted from the self-luminous paint made of promethium-147 embedded in the reflective member is efficiently prevented from leaking to the outside by the reflective coating layer and reflective plate formed on the reflective member. Since it reflects well and illuminates the liquid crystal display device directly from below, it is possible to clearly see displays such as letters during the day and at night. Furthermore, since the phosphorescent agent is dispersed in the reflective member, the phosphorescent agent is excited by the light from the self-luminous paint, further improving the illumination effect. Furthermore, since the self-luminous paint is disposed on the side of the liquid crystal display device, the overall thickness can be reduced.
