Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a printing apparatus made easy to mount printing paper and having good operability, by providing a detection mechanism and automatically locating a paper feed unit to the position corresponding to the width of the printing paper. CONSTITUTION:When printing paper 1 is inserted in a guide 9 from the rear of a printing apparatus, paper guides 16a, 16b detect the width of the printing paper 1 to send signals to paper feed units 2a, 2b through a control part and, at the same time, the paper feed units 2a, 2b moves to the position coinciding with the set width of printing paper 1. The printing paper 1 passes between a platen 3 and a printing head 4 as well as the platen 3 and the guide 9 by feed rollers 20, 21 to be sent to the paper feed units 2a, 2b by a length capable of training said paper 1 over a platen wheel. The feed amount of the printing paper 1 is determined by a microswitch 17. An operator completes the setting of the printing paper 1 to the apparatus only by training the printing paper 1 over the feed pins of the feed units 2a, 2b.

When the printing paper 1 is inserted onto the guide 9 from the rear of the printing device, the paper guides 16a and 16b detect the paper width of the printing paper 1 and send a signal to the paper transport units 2a and 2b through a control section (not shown). At the same time, the paper transport units 2a and 2b move to positions that match the set printing width. The printing paper 1 is fed by the feed rollers 20, 21 between the guide 9, the platen 3, and the print head 4 by a length that can be applied to the sprocket wheels of the paper transport units 2a, 2b. The feed amount of the printing paper 1 at this time is determined by the microswitch 17.
