Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deformation of an image due to oil by fixing an end sealing member having an oil absorbing sheet on the side opposite to the side of the toner image to be transferred on the forward end of the transfer material to be fed to a fixing device, and absorbing an oil accumulated between fixing rollers to remove it. CONSTITUTION:The oil-absorbing sheet 10 is bonded to the forward end of the resin film transfer material 8 to be fed between the fixing rollers 1, 2 of the fixing device on the side 8b opposite to the side 8a of the film 8 on which the toner image is to be formed, and the end sealing member 9 of a laminate structure obtained by bonding a tough material sheet to the underside of the sheet 10 is provided. Paper, unwoven fabric of polyester or PP or the like is used for the sheet 10, and a sheet of polyester or PP or the like is used for the sheet 11. Deformation of the toner image due to oil is prevented by feeding the member 9 in contact with the roller 2 so as for the sheet 10 of the member 9 to contact first with the accumulated offset-preventing oil O so as for the sheet 11 not to contact first, and absorbing and removing the oil O with the sheet 10.

Conventionally, as this type of transfer material, the present applicant's Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 57-3
A transfer material provided with a tip seal to facilitate entry into a pressure fixing roller as shown in No. 8437;
In a color electrophotographic copying device that produces color copies using a multi-transfer type transfer device having a transfer material holding area equipped with a transfer material gripping means, color copies are made using a film whose resin film transfer material surface has been treated to reduce resistance. 0I (When creating a P film, the transfer current changes from the low resistance film surface to OH
A transfer material with a tip seal for the purpose of preventing leakage to the gripping means such as P film and causing transfer defects, and a similar resin film transfer material for another purpose, such as separation of the resin film at the fixing separation section. Transfer materials with a tip seal have been proposed for the purpose of facilitating this process.

Conventionally, when fixing a color toner image with a heat roller, the amount of silicone oil applied to the pair of heat fixing rollers to prevent toner offset 5 is more than several times the amount applied when fixing a general black toner image with a heat roller. It is necessary to do so. This is because color toner develops color by heating and melting, so resins with low melting points and high stickiness are generally used.Full-color images also require three times as much toner adhesion as monochrome images. Depends on something. In this way, when fixing color toner images with heat rollers, a large amount of silicone oil is applied to prevent toner offset. When the transfer material passes through a fixing roller pair consisting of a pressure roller such as a p-n roller, the gap between the surface of the pressure roller and the back surface of the transfer material is filled with silicone oil, and the transfer material is brought into close contact with the pressure roller. In addition, when the transfer material is softened (by heating), a force that curls the transfer material is exerted on the pressure roller side, making it difficult to separate the transfer material even with the action of the separating claw), and jams are likely to occur.

Furthermore, as mentioned above, since the amount of silicone oil applied to the fixing roller to prevent toner offset is greater than that of general black and white copying machines, there is a problem that an oil sump forms at the transfer material entrance part of the fixing roller. In the conventional fixing device, it is not possible to remove such an oil reservoir, and therefore, in the case of a resin film transfer material with poor oil absorption, the oil flows on the resin film. There is a problem that the toner image on the resin film is disturbed.

As mentioned above, the tip sealing member 9 is attached to the tip of the transfer material 8, that is, the end of the transfer material 8 that is sent to the stationary device, and the sealing member 9 is attached along the guide 5 between the rows 21 and 20. sent. However, when a resin film transfer material is used, the sealing member 9 at the tip of the material may not have sufficient oil absorption properties, and the oil in the oil reservoir 0 may not be sufficiently absorbed by the sealing member 9 at the tip of the transfer material. It flows toward the image plane 8a of the material 8. On the other hand, toner, which is an unfixed image, adheres to the image surface 81, and this is washed away behind the resin film transfer material by the aforementioned oil, thereby disturbing the image.

This film is strong and has the effect of helping the resin film transfer material enter the fixing roller and making it easier to separate, even in a fixing device that is coated with a large amount of oil to prevent offset. Since the film does not have oil absorption properties, it is not possible to prevent image distortion due to oil caused by the oil reservoir.

The tip sealing member made of such a nonwoven fabric has excellent oil absorption properties and works to help the oil enter the fixing roller, but it is easily deformed by heat in the fixing section, and it is difficult to fix it in the separating section. It adheres closely to the roller and has a tendency to easily wrap around the roller.

In this respect, using paper as the tip sealing member is an effective means, but if the environment in which the paper is applied is different from the environment in which the resin film transfer material is used, for example, when applying the tip sealing member in low humidity, the resin film may be used. If the transfer material is used at high temperatures,
Paper that absorbs moisture stretches and becomes wavy. This is because one side of the paper is fixed at the seam joint, so the entire paper cannot be stretched uniformly. When paper is folded in half and used (Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 57-38437 of the present applicant mentioned above)
Apart from this, in cases where the tip sealing material can only be attached to one side of the resin film transfer material, such as when the surface of the resin film transfer material is subjected to a low-resistance treatment, paper can be used as the tip sealing material. The item cannot be used in practical terms.

As explained above, in a resin film transfer material provided with a conventional tip sealing material, it is difficult to effectively prevent image disturbance caused by an oil pool for offset prevention in a fixing device. Purpose] An object of the present invention is to provide a transfer material that makes it possible to remove the oil reservoir between the fixing rows 2 that disturbs the toner image on the resin film transfer material as described above.

The transfer material according to the present invention is a resin film transfer material to which a toner image formed on an image bearing member in an image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic copying device is transferred, and the toner image is attached to the leading end of the transfer material fed into a fixing device. It is characterized by the addition of a tip sealing member having a laminated structure of a sheet of oil-absorbing material placed on the side of the image to be transferred and a sheet of strong material placed below the sheet.

By adopting such a configuration, it is possible to make it easier for the transfer material to enter the fixing roller, prevent it from coming into close contact with the p-sheet at the separation part, and prevent the oil in the oil reservoir 0 from coming into contact with the transfer material. The resin film transfer material absorbs the toner before it enters the fixing section and does not disturb the toner image on the image surface.

Fig. 2 shows a case where the oil reservoir is located under the tip seal member, and in this case, the surface in contact with the oil reservoir is the film sheet 11.
It foams and does not absorb oil, so it is difficult for the tip to advance into the nip of the roller. On the other hand, in FIG. 3, the oil reservoir is in contact with the aforementioned sheet 10 having an oil-absorbing effect, so that it absorbs oil and easily enters the fixing portion of the roller.

In fact, in the fixing section, the conditions shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 may occur simultaneously on the front side and the back side of the leading end seal member entering the fixing section. In this case, in the state shown in FIG. 2, the leading end sealing member does not enter the fixing section, and oblique development appears in the fixing device. At this time, the width of the fixing roller is generally set slightly larger than the maximum width of the transfer material to be fixed, so if the degree of skew is severe, there will be areas where fixing is not performed, which may cause quality problems.
