Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate slippage between ink ribbon and recording paper and obtain high quality prints, by applying pressure to end surface of winding-up side of the ink ribbon by means of a friction mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When image information is received, a thermal head 6 is pressed against a platen 9 by a solenoid 7, with an ink ribbon 1 and recording paper 8 interposed between them and letters and images are recorded under heat generated by an exothermic material. The ink ribbon 1 after recording is wound on a takeup core 1b via guides 2c and 2d. In the winding, a friction plate 3 engaged with a cartridge 4 applies pressure in takeup width direction of the ink ribbon 1 by pressing action of a friction spring 5 to prevent irregular winding. Thus, increase of winding load and slippage between the ink ribbon and the recording paper are eliminated and quality of prints is improved.

(Prior art) Conventionally, this type of thermal transfer printer uses a thermal transfer recording method that selectively thermally transfers image information to recording paper using a narrow thermal transfer ink ribbon housed in a cartridge and a thermal head, and is inexpensive. It has the advantage that information can be recorded on plain paper.

(Problem to be Solved by the Invention) However, the thickness of the ink ribbon for thermal transfer used in this thermal transfer recording method is 7 to 1
Since it is as thin as 0 μm, it is pressed against the platen through the recording paper by the thermal head and runs in the opposite direction to the walking direction of the paper, and when it is wound up by the winding paper,
If the winding cine alignment occurs in the width direction of the ink ribbon and comes into contact with the inside of the cartridge or cartridge, increasing the winding load, the winding speed of the ink ribbon decreases and the space between the ink ribbon and the recording paper increases. This has the disadvantage that slippage occurs on the paper and print quality deteriorates.
