Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a system small-sized and to reduce the power consumption and the heating quantity by sharing a spindle motor to rotate and drive a magnetic tape and the hard disk with an electric circuit, and providing a rotating number converting device to control the number of rotation of the spindle motor and a switch to control the transferring of the rotation. CONSTITUTION:A disk 1 is rotated through a spindle 2 by the spindle motor 3. The data on the disk are written and read by a head 4. The static electricity of the disk 1 is removed by an earth 6. On the other hand, a tape 9 is travelled through a capstan 13 and a driving belt 15 engaged at a spindle 10 by the spindle motor 3 through a rotation converting device 11, and the data of the tape 9 are written and read. The travelling and the stop of the tape 9 are executed through a switch 12. The magnetic disk device and the magnetic tape device share the parts, and thereby, the system can be made small-sized and the power consumption is reduced.
