Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform printing with high quality even in the vicinity of a binding part of a booklet form medium without any trouble in passing the medium through a platen, by a construction wherein one movable platen on the side on which a bound part of a booklet form medium is located can be freely moved downward, and the other movable platen is fixed at an upper position. CONSTITUTION:A fixed platen 2 is disposed on the lower side of an opening 1A, while a printing head 3 is disposed on the upper side of the opening 1A so that it can be moved up and down, and a pair of movable platens 5A, 5B are disposed at positions corresponding to a pair of paper bails 4A, 4B. A link mechanism 6A comprises an L-shaped member 8A having one end connected to the platen 5A, and a member 10A connecting the other end of the member 8A to a plunger 9A of a solenoid 7A. The force of a spring 13 for pushing up the platen 5A is sufficiently small as compared with a force with which a magnetic head 3 is lowered for printing. ゆるカット紙等の普通媒体への印字を考慮して、プラテ
ンの印字ヘッドと対置する側の形状を平坦にしているの
が一般的である。かかる形状の場合、上述した冊子状の
媒体に印字しようとする場合、綴じ合せ部近傍になると
、綴じ合せ部の形状のために媒体を平坦に押えることが
でき”ず(綴じ合せ部の厚みが厚いため)、その結果印
字の品質が低下するか、あるいは綴じ合せ部近傍での印
字が不可能になってしまう。

よって可動プラテン5Aは上方位置に固定され、下方へ

いても上記可動プラテン5Aと同様な構成となっており
