Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled Al alloy for cylinder lighter in weight than the one made of iron and having superior adhesion of copper plating layer by incorporating specific percentage of Mg and Si to Al. CONSTITUTION:The Al alloy consisting of, by weight, 0.2-2.0% Mg, Si in a range of [(Mg)/1.73+0.05]-[(Mg)/1.73+1.5]%, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities and containing, if necessary, 1 or >=2 kinds among 0.05-1.5% Cu, 0.05-1.5% Mn, 0.05-0.50% Fe, 0.05-0.5% Cr and 0.05-0.5% Zr is prepared. When a photoengraving roll for gravure is manufactured by use of the above Al alloy, replacing work is made easy as its weight is about one-third that of the one made of iron and, moreover, excess Si enables improvement of etching characteristic to facilitate surface roughening, so that adhesion of copper plating layer can be improved.

Prior Art and Its Problems Since the cylinder of a conventional plate-making roll for gravure printing is made of steel, the roll itself is very heavy. As a result, there were several problems as follows. This type of roll has a wide variety of windows with different diameters and/or lengths depending on the size of the printing target, and the required roll can be mounted on a stand, so the roll is always in use. It was necessary to carry out replacement work, but this work could not be done by one person and was inconvenient. In addition, the mount itself must be sturdy because it must support the rolls of different sizes, so it has to be expensive. Furthermore, since the rolls are heavy and have a large inertia, it is not easy to control the printing speed.

Function: Since the aluminum alloy for the cylinder of the plate-making roll according to the present invention has the above composition, tv1g2si
is generated, and the excess 3i seems to have a subtle influence on the precipitation distribution state of MQ2Si.

Incidentally, when copper plating is applied to the surface of a cylinder, the surface is roughened by etching in order to improve adhesion with the plating layer, and the excess 81 has the effect of improving etching properties. As a result, the aluminum alloy according to the present invention has better adhesion to the copper plating layer than pure aluminum, other aluminum alloys, and iron.

MCI provides strength as a cylinder of a plate-making roll, but if it is less than the lower limit, the strength is insufficient, and if it exceeds the upper limit, extrusion with a boathole die becomes difficult. If aluminum alloy shapes for cylinders are made using boat hole dies, there is an advantage that there is no uneven thickness.

(Margin below) When cylinders were made from the aluminum alloys of the examples shown in the table above and used as plate-making rolls, copper plating was applied, and the adhesion was extremely good in all cases. A bending test was also conducted, and it was found that there were no problems as a plate-making roll, and that it could be used in place of the conventional M roll.

Furthermore, since the plate-making roll for long via printing using the above-mentioned cylinder is about 1/3 the weight of a conventional steel roll, it is convenient because one person can replace the roll, and the O- The roll frame does not need to be as sturdy as in the past, so it can be manufactured at a low cost.Furthermore, the roll is lighter and has less inertia, making it easier to control the printing speed.
