Abstract

PURPOSE:To output a television signal as a visible image whatever signal out of plural kinds of television signal different in the number of scanning lines and aspect ratio is inputted, by providing an input means which can input the first and the second television signals, a scanning line number converting means, and a means which switches the scanning speed in an output means. CONSTITUTION:The number of scanning lines of signals Rn, Gn, and Bn outputted from a decoder 2 is allowed to coincide with that of a high definition television signal (HD) by a number of scanning line converting circuit 3. A switch circuit 6 outputs signals Rn, Gn, and Bn or signals Rh, Gh, and Bh in accordance with the output of a mode switching circuit 10 and supplies them to an image receiving tube 8. Since they are different in horizontal scanning frequency, the center frequency of a control oscillator in a horizontal AFC circuit 16 is switched by a switch 21. Though deflecting coils 19 and 20 are driven by output signals of deflecting circuits 15 and 17, the voltage of the horizontal deflecting circuit 17 is switched by a switch 22 because NTSC and HD signals are different in aspect ratio. The output of the horizontal deflecting circuit 17 is supplied to a high voltage circuit 18 for driving the image receiving tube, and thus, pictures corresponding to HD and NTSC signals are displayed.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> By the way, in order to output a conventional 2's type television signal as a visible image, it is necessary to prepare two output devices. Therefore, even if so-called high-definition television broadcasting is realized, for example, if you do not have a receiver for standard television signals such as NT8C signals and a receiver for high-definition television signals (HD), you will not be able to use these. It is not possible to receive double-tier O broadcasts, which impedes the spread of HD receiver aircraft and, by extension, the spread of high-definition television broadcasts.

The output of the switch S6 is supplied to the time axis compression circuit 45.
The time axis is compressed by % for each horizontal scanning period, and the blank portion is replaced with a specified video signal. The regulation signal generation circuit 46 generates a video signal corresponding to the color blue, for example, and this signal can be selected from the video signal output from the time axis compression circuit 45 by switching the switch 48 based on the output of the timing signal generation circuit 47. It is output uniformly. This time axis compression circuit 45 changes the deflection speed, that is, the scanning speed. Although the time axis compression circuit 45 is constructed as a separate block for ease of explanation, it can be easily realized by switching the reading speed of the memos 1755 and 54.
