Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a measuring person to know the kind and content of errors by displaying the case in which a measured value exceeds the lower limit of a measuring range and the case in which the value exceeds the upper limit in different modes when the measured value exceeding the measuring range is obtd. thereby making possible the discrimination of both errors. CONSTITUTION:A light projecting and detecting part 11 is constituted of a light emitting element 12 and a photodetector 13. Light from the element 12 is projected to test paper 15 of a stick 14 and is reflected thereby. The reflected light is detected by the photodetector 13. The element 12 is driven by an LED driver 16 which is commanded by a CPU17. The photodetecting current flowing in the element 13 is taken into the CPU17 through a current/voltage converter 18 and an A/D converter 19. The CPU17 discriminates whether the measured value is on the side lower than the lower limit value of the measuring range or on the side higher than the upper limit value or within the measuring range. The result thereof is displayed on a display device 3.

(b) Conventional technology For example, in a urine sugar measuring device, a test paper attached to the tip of a stick is impregnated with urine and colored, and the degree of coloration is read by a photoelectric device. A substance is being quantified. This measurement value is within a predetermined range, and if the measurement value is outside the range, it is an error, but with conventional urine sugar measurement devices,
Even if it went out of range, nothing in particular was displayed, or an error was simply displayed.

(d) Means and action for solving the problem The biochemical measuring device of the present invention determines whether the measured value obtained from the photoelectric conversion means is lower than the lower limit of the measurement range or higher than the upper limit. It is characteristically equipped with an error determining means and an error indicator that displays the lower limit error and the upper limit error in different manners based on the output of the error determining means to distinguish between the lower limit error and the upper limit error.
