Abstract

PURPOSE:To change over dynamically the setting of a modulator-demodulator or its setting change by registering the initial setting information of the modulator-demodulator and reading it at the start or the replacement of a communication control program for initial setting. CONSTITUTION:The initial setting information 71, 72-of the modulator- demodulator 4 is formed at the same time when the communication control programs 31, 32-are formed and stored in a library 11 corresponding to the programs 31, 32-. In starting the program 31 to connect a terminal equipment 5 with a communication line 6, the program 31 is read from the library 11 by the command from a host processor 1 and sent to a communication control section 2 and an initial setting information 71 is sent to the modulator- demodulator 4.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Summary] Necessary initial setting information is read from the initial setting information of the modulation/demodulation device registered in advance at the time of startup or replacement of the communication control program, and based on this, the initial setting information of the modulation/demodulation device is read out. By performing the settings, the initial settings of the modulation/demodulation device can be performed reliably, thereby preventing the occurrence of interface errors with the host.

However, in order to perform communication between a host processor and a terminal device with different transmission control procedures using the same line, a communication control program (hereinafter abbreviated as NCP) on the host processor side is required.
It is necessary to replace the modem, and along with this, the modem settings (speed, timer value), etc. must also be changed.

Therefore, in the present invention, the initial setting information of the modem is registered in advance on the host processor side, and the
When the CP is activated, prior to communication, necessary information is sent to the modem from among the initial setting information of the modem, and the modem performs its own initial settings based on this information, or The above-mentioned various initial setting information patterns are built into the ROM, the host specifies the required pattern number, and the modem reads the initial setting information corresponding to this pattern number from the ROM, and performs its own initial setting based on this. By making settings, it is possible to dynamically switch the attributes of the modulation/demodulation device.
