Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a small and stable floating amount by providing a slit such as a groove on a floating surface by means of a floating head and a monolithic slider. CONSTITUTION:The drive and turn of a disk in a magnetic disk device try to float a floating head slider from the disk with the aid of a positive air pressure arising on the floating surface 1 of the monolithic slider. On the contrary, a negative air pressure generated by a groove part 2 returns the floating head slider to the disk surface. With this mutual action the floating head slider can maintain the small stable floating amount. Moreover a change in the floating amount can be eliminated with respect to the difference between relative speeds of inner and outer peripheries of the disk. Thus a uniform recording and reproduction can be available.

[Problems and Objectives to be Solved by the Invention] However, in the above-mentioned conventional technology, the flying height of the floating head slider in the magnetic disk device differs depending on the disk rotation speed. There was a problem that the playback characteristics were different. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is intended to solve these problems, and its purpose is to provide a floating head slider that is small and has a stable flying height.

According to the above-mentioned floating head and monolithic type grooved slider of the present invention, positive air pressure is applied to the floating surface, and negative air pressure is applied to the grooved portion on the floating surface, which is balanced and is small and stable. Therefore, a floating t can be obtained.

The floating head slider tends to float above the disk due to the positive air pressure generated on the floating surface of the floating head slider 1 shown in FIG. 1 when the disk in the magnetic disk device is driven and rotated.

On the other hand, the negative air pressure generated by the groove 2 in FIG. 1 generates a force that tends to pull the floating head slider back toward the disk surface.

Due to this interaction, the floating head slider floats above the disk while maintaining a small and stable flying height. As is clear from FIG. 2, the grooved slider of the present invention Compared to conventional sliders, the flying height does not change even when the relative speed differs depending on the inner and outer circumferences of the slider.

As described above, according to the invention, by forming slits such as grooves on the floating surface of the floating head slider, the floating head slider can have a small and stable flying height regardless of the rotational speed of the disk. will be obtained.

Therefore, since the flying height between the inner and outer circumferential sides of the disk does not differ greatly, it is possible to obtain somewhat uniform recording and reproducing characteristics.
