Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the external appearance of a weather strip composed of an extrusion-molded section and a die-molded section and to enhance the antiweatherability and antiozone ability of the weather strip, by forming an urethane group paint coating layer containing a water-proof pigment, on the externally exposed surface of the weather strip. CONSTITUTION:A weather strip 4 constituting a gasket for a front windshield pane 2 is formed on one side section 4a with a seal lip made in close contact with a vehicle body panel 6 and on the other side section 4b with a seal lip receiving the front windshield pane 2. A coating film layer 8 made of an urethane group paint containing a volatile pigment is formed on the externally exposed outer surface of the strip 4. Upon painting, a primer is coated in a required section of the strip and is then dried by a heater, and the urethane group paint is coated on the primer coated surface, and is then dried by the heater. Accordingly, a difference in height between a die molded section and an extrusion molded section in the corner section of the strip 4 may be eliminated, thereby it is possible to enhance the external appearance of the strip.

In addition, conventional weather strips are generally formed by extrusion molding using rubber-based materials, but as shown in Figure 5, there are cases where the radius of curvature of the corner portion is small or the shape of the contact surface is complicated. In such a case, the extrusion molded product that forms the straight part that has been continuously vulcanized is cut to a predetermined length in advance, and when molding the corner part, the extrusion molded product A is placed in the molded product B. Formed by joining.

Therefore, in the present invention, even in the case of a weather strip consisting of an extrusion molded part and a molded part, for example, a coating layer of a urethane paint containing a pigment that harmonizes with the color of the attachment part of the weather strip is applied to the weather strip. By forming it on the surface of the strip, the purpose is to improve the appearance as well as improve weather resistance and ozone resistance.

As a result, in each of the weather strips 4, 5 and 10, the difference in level between the molded part at the corner part and the extruded part at the straight part is eliminated, and the appearance is improved. Also, the coating layer 8 of urethane paint.
9.11 has moderate stretchability after the paint dries, so
Even when the weather strips 4, 5, and 10 are expanded or contracted, they can be expanded or contracted accordingly, thereby preventing the rubber skin from being exposed.

(Effects of the Invention) As explained above, according to the weather strip of the present invention, at least the surface exposed to the outside of the weather strip having an extrusion molded part and a molded part has a urethane-based material containing a water-repellent pigment. Since color is imparted by forming a coating layer of paint, it is possible to compensate for the lack of freedom in the color of rubber, and it also improves the exterior appearance by matching the color of the car body panel. Since the membrane layer is highly stretchable, the rubber base will not be exposed even in the parts where the weatherstrip stretches and the decorative effect will not be impaired. Furthermore, the coating layer has excellent weather resistance and ozone resistance, and the gloss can be freely set, so that it can maintain an excellent decorative effect for a long period of time.
