In particular, fine-particle titanium oxide powder with a maximum particle size of 0.1μ or less and an average particle size of 5 to 50 mm has been recently investigated for use in sunscreen cosmetics because it has a remarkable effect of blocking ultraviolet rays. There is. However, such fine particle titanium oxide has a large surface energy, and when cosmetics are manufactured using it, it is difficult to uniformly disperse it during manufacture, and it also tends to form aggregates during storage. Furthermore, if such microparticle titanium oxide is blended into a cake-like foundation soybean made from water, the cosmetic may not be applied evenly to the skin during use, resulting in a very poor finish, resulting in serious drawbacks as a cosmetic. There is.

A cosmetic composition is obtained which gives a good finish when applied to the skin, has an excellent appearance when makeup is applied, and has excellent sun protection effects.

チタン被覆カオリンを得る。Detailed Description of the Invention Titanium oxide-coated kaolin to be blended into a cosmetic composition is prepared by adding a predetermined amount of kaolin particles (0.5 to 30 μm in particle size) to an appropriate titanium salt, and then adding the kaolin particles in the presence of kaolin. It is obtained by hydrolyzing a titanium salt, followed by filtration, washing, drying, and calcination in a conventional manner. To give a specific example of a method for producing such titanium oxide-coated kaolin, 135 g of kaolin with an average particle size of 2 μm is added to 1/2 of an aqueous solution of titanyl sulfate of 15 g/fl (calculated as TiO), and the mixture is stirred while stirring. Heat, bring to a boil and hold for 2 hours. The product is filtered and washed with water, and the resulting cake is separated and dried at 110°C. Another 800°
Firing is performed at about C for 30 minutes to obtain titanium oxide coated kaolin used in the present invention.

As is clear from Tables 1 and 2, the cream and cake-like foundation of the present invention containing titanium oxide-coated kaolin are far more effective than conventional cosmetic compositions containing simply mixing fine-particle titanium oxide with kaolin. It can be incorporated into cosmetics in a wide range of amounts, provides excellent ultraviolet blocking effects, and exhibits desirable properties as cosmetics.

If the coating amount is less than 1%, the UV blocking effect will not be sufficient, while if it exceeds 50%, the properties as a cosmetic will deteriorate. The amount of the titanium oxide-coated kaolin in the entire composition may be varied within a range of 90% or less depending on the form of the cosmetic.
