Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the generation of casting defects and the repair after casting by coating a zircon-base mold coating material for which different kinds of solvents are used on a sand mold into plural layers. CONSTITUTION:The zircon-base mold coating material, which is of an aq. or alcoholic type and for which the different solvents are used, is coated on the mold into the multiple layers by coating one or plural times of the aq. mold coating material for primer coating and coating one or plural times the alcoholic mold coating material for finish coating. Conversely the alcoholic mold coating material is used for the primery coating and the aq. material is used for the finish coating, by which said material is coated into the multiple layers. The aq. and alcoholic mold coating materials are further alternately coated into one or plural layers. There is no particular imitation for the casting mold as far as said mold is a sand mold to be use for casting of cast steel products in addition to a furan mold. This method is also applicable to casting of various kinds of cast steel products. The casting defect such as sand inclusion is decreased by the effect of high heat resistance of the zircon-base mold coating material and the heat insulation effect by multi layered coating and the decrease in operability is obviated by the use of different kinds of solvent.

(Industrial Application Field) The present invention relates to the production of cast steel products, and more particularly to a method for improving the quality of cast steel products by improving the coating of a sand mold. (Prior art and problems) When manufacturing cast steel products using a sand mold, for example, an organic self-hardening furan mold, casting defects exhibiting foreign matter inclusion such as sand inclusion occur to a greater or lesser extent, although there are differences in degree. Therefore, repair work such as polishing and overlay welding is performed to repair these casting defects. Normally, this type of repair involves removing foreign matter such as sand with a shot to form a dent, then gouging, filling the dent with overlay welding, and finishing by polishing. ing. However, most of the repair work is left to manual labor, which is inefficient, and the extra work leads to high costs. Therefore, attempts have been made to improve quality in order to manufacture sound cast steel products, but they are not effective. At present, no quality improvement measures have yet emerged. (Object of the Invention) In view of the above-mentioned circumstances, the present invention reduces the occurrence of casting defects during the production of cast steel products, reduces repair work after casting,
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method that can further improve quality.6 (Structure of the Invention) In order to achieve the above object, the present inventors set out to find a method for improving the quality of cast steel products. During the course of the research, it became clear that the quality of the coating agent that comes into direct contact with the molten steel was an important point, and the following findings were obtained. Conventionally, when casting f) parts using a flan mold, a coating agent is applied to the surface of the flan mold where it comes into direct contact with the molten steel, creating a barrier between the sand grains of the flan mold and the molten steel. , which plays a role in preventing the occurrence of casting defects. However, the conventional mold application method was to apply either a zircon water-soluble mold or an alcoholic paint mold once with a brush, but it was not possible to prevent the occurrence of large aI defects, and the cause of this was investigated. As a result of repeated research on countermeasures, we found that simply increasing the amount of paint applied was not effective.
On the contrary, this may lead to peeling of the coating mold, but we have obtained the knowledge that the occurrence of casting defects can be effectively reduced by changing the type of zircon coating agent and applying multiple layers. It is an invention. That is, the gist of the present invention is to improve the quality of cast steel products by applying multiple layers of zircon-based mold coating agents using different types of solvents to a sand mold. The present invention will be explained in detail below based on examples. The coating agent used in the present invention is a zircon coating, and is either aqueous or alcoholic. Zircon coatings using these different types of solvents can be applied in multiple layers by, for example, applying an aqueous base coat once or multiple times and an alcohol base coat once or multiple times. , or conversely, use an alcohol-based undercoat and a water-based topcoat and apply multiple layers in the same way, or even alternately apply one or more layers of water-based and alcohol-based products. Multi-layer coating can be performed in an appropriate manner. It goes without saying that the coating thickness of each layer can be varied. Moreover, the mold to which the present invention can be applied is not particularly limited, as long as it is a sand mold used for casting steel products, in addition to the above-mentioned flan mold. It goes without saying that it can also be applied to the production of cast steel products of various steel types. When a sand mold with this configuration is used to manufacture cast steel products,
In addition to the high heat resistance of the zircon coating, the multilayer coating using different solvents has a heat-insulating effect and the appropriate coating thickness allows the coating agent to fully exert its coating effect, significantly reducing casting defects such as sand bites. can do. Also,
Even though it is a multi-layer coating, since different solvents are used, workability does not deteriorate compared to using the same solvent. (Example) Stainless steel! When manufacturing valve parts (unit weight 470 kg) made of 1tllscsi3 (equivalent to SUS304), a zircon water-based coating (average particle size 15μ) was used as an undercoat.
A multilayer coating was applied to the furan mold using a zircon-based alcohol mold (average particle size: 8 μm) as a top coat. Casting defects in the obtained valve parts (cast steel products) were repaired by welding, and the required repair time was investigated. The results are shown in Table 1.

As is clear from Table 1, in the example of the present invention, the average weld repair index (repair time) could be reduced by 37% compared to the conventional method, and casting defects could be reduced by that much. (Effects of the Invention) As explained above, according to the present invention, since the coating mold of the sand mold used for manufacturing cast steel products is changed in type and multi-layered coating is applied, casting defects such as sand bite can be significantly reduced. It has great practical effects, such as being able to effectively improve the quality of cast steel products and significantly shortening the time required to repair casting defects.
