Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording method and an ink sheet for use in the recording method by which a layer for protecting a recording material from water or moisture, abrasion or the like can be provided, by a method wherein an ink sheet coated with an ink material and a recording material protecting material in separate sections is used, and the protecting material is thermally transferred on the recording material on which the ink material has been thermally transferred. CONSTITUTION:In the ink sheet, the recording material protecting material 3 applied to a base film 1 shows a thermosetting property at temperatures higher than the transferring temperature. First, the entire part of a region of the ink material 2 or a part thereof corresponding to predetermined picture elements is thermally transferred onto a recording material such as an ordinary paper, a metal or the like, then the entire part of a region of the recording material protecting material 3 or a part thereof corresponding to the predetermined picture elements is thermally transferred onto the recording material to provide a predetermined recording material protecting layer. Then, the protecting layer is hardened by further heating, whereby the recording material can be reinforced, and the protecting layer can be provided without using any special device.

Conventional ink sheets do not have a region coated with a recorded object protection material. Therefore, a device for recording on a recording material using a conventional ink sheet has the ink material (2
) is transferred onto the recorded object, it is not possible to form a layer that protects the recorded object from moisture, abrasion, etc., and to form the protective layer, it is necessary to form the protective layer in addition to the recording device. The problem was that a device was needed to do so.
