Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the metallic ornaments of white color feeling smooth and giving a high-grade impression by using an alloy made by incorporating specific amounts of Ti, or further Ta and Zr to Nb. CONSTITUTION:The Nb alloy containing, by weight, 40-60% Ti, or further <35% Ta and/or <5% Zr is used as the material for the white-colored ornaments, such as lighters, bracelets, the frame of spectacles, ball-point pens, propelling pencils, cuff buttons, buckles, outer ornaments of watches and the like. By use of this alloy, the white-colored ornaments excelling in corrosion resistance as well as in cold working, feeling smooth, and giving a high-grade impression can be obtained.

[Technical background of the invention and its problems] Traditionally, metals have been used for lighters, due to their specularity and workability.
It is used as a material for various decorative items such as bracelets and eyeglass frames, and it has a decorative surface with intricate fine processing such as checkerboard patterns and wavy striped patterns, rather than just a mirror finish, making it highly decorative. This is often required.

These metal ornaments are usually roughly divided into white and gold, and among these, materials traditionally used for white metal ornaments include brass chrome plating, duralumin, and silver. Among these, brass casting has good workability, but it is easily rusted, so it has to be plated with chrome plating, etc., which has the disadvantage of complicating the process. Furthermore, even if duralumin is processed to form a surface pattern into a complex shape, it has the disadvantage that the finished product cannot have a high-quality texture.

[Summary of the Invention J] That is, the metal ornament of the present invention contains 1140 to 60% by weight, with the remainder consisting essentially of Nb, and one or both of Ta 35% by weight or less and Zr 5% or less by weight. It is characterized by containing 140 to 60% by weight of Nb and T1, with the remainder consisting essentially of Nb.

Ti, which is an additive component of the present invention, is from 40 to 40% of the total alloy components.
Add 60% by weight. If it is less than 40% by weight, the cost will be high and the processability will be poor, and if it is more than 60% by weight, the processability will be poor, so both are not preferable.

Ta and zr, which are other additive components, are optional additive components, and are added in amounts of 35% by weight or less and 5% by weight or less, respectively. If added in excess of the required range, processability will deteriorate, which is not preferable. Moreover, the maximum addition ratio decreases as the addition ratio of T1 increases. The reason is that T' a and Zr reduce workability together with Ti, and the total amount of these is 40 to 6
Preferably it is 0% by weight.

A component consisting of 45% by weight of Nb and the balance T1 was arc melted and forged and rolled to form a thin plate with a thickness of 1 nm. Next, cold deep drawing is performed in three steps to produce the outer shapes of the lighter case 1 and the fire extinguishing lid 2, and then the decorative patterns of the striped box part 1a and the checkered part 1b are cold formed by knurling. Finished with decoration. A lighter 3 was manufactured using the lighter case 1 and the fire extinguisher 2 thus obtained.

C Effects of the Invention The Nb alloy according to the present invention has excellent cold workability, especially stretch formability, so it is possible to form a complex curved surface and also has good thick wall formability. It also has excellent corrosion resistance, so there is no need to worry about metal ornaments corroding due to sweat, hand grime, etc., making it especially suitable for jewelry such as bracelets and eyeglass frames.
