Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display having a high grade feeling by coloring a whole display part so as not to be observed a display pattern and a display color by an observer, when cutting off the display. CONSTITUTION:A pair of transparent electrodes 7a and 7b is disposed between a pair of glass substrates 6a of the titled element, and the liquid crystal 10 is interposed between the electrodes 7a and 7b. The display pattern is formed on one 7b of the electrodes 7a and 7b. When a voltage is charged between the electrodes 7a and 7b, the pattern is displayed. The colored layer 11 is provided on the part forming the display pattern of the electrode 7b so as to give a color to the display pattern. When a red, a blue or a green colored layer is used as the colored layer 11, and the display is cut by cutting off a light source 5, the whole display element is colored whereby the display pattern and the display color are not observed by an observer, and the high grade feeling is given to the display.

FIG. 3 shows an example of this, in which colorization is achieved using a color filter. In this Figure 3, 1 is a viewpoint, 2 is a liquid crystal element (hereinafter referred to as LCD), and 3 is a viewpoint.
4 is a color filter, 4 is a coloring section, and 5 is a light source. According to this configuration, the light from the light source 5 passes through the colored portion 4 of the color filter 3, so that the display on the LCD 2 can be colored. Recently, in order to eliminate parallax caused by the thickness of the glass, a colored layer 9 is formed on the transparent electrode 7b formed in a predetermined display pattern, as shown in FIG.
It has also been proposed to provide a W color ratio directly. In FIG. 4, 6a and 5b are glass substrates, 7a and 7b are transparent electrodes, 3a and 3b are alignment films, and 10 is a liquid crystal molecule. Note that the one shown in FIG. 4 uses a TN type LCD, and the polarizing plate is omitted.

However, in these methods, when the display is off (when no voltage is applied between a pair of transparent electrodes), the transmittance and hue differ depending on the presence or absence of a color filter and the color of the filter. There is a problem in that the display pattern and display color are known to the viewer in advance, and the sense of luxury is lost.

The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object thereof is to prevent the display pattern and display color from becoming obvious to the viewer when the display is turned off.

In order to achieve the above object, the present invention includes a pair of glass substrates, a pair of transparent electrodes provided between the pair of glass substrates, and a liquid crystal disposed between the pair of transparent electrodes. In a liquid crystal display element in which one transparent electrode of the electrodes is formed in a predetermined display pattern and a voltage is applied between the pair of transparent electrodes to perform the predetermined display, the predetermined display pattern is colored. A colored layer for display that changes color is provided in a portion corresponding to the transparent electrode formed in the predetermined pattern, and a non-display of at least two or more colors including the color of the colored layer for display is provided in a portion that deviates from the predetermined display pattern. It is characterized in that the coloring layers for display are sequentially disposed from the coloring layer for display.

In the above configuration, when the display is on (when a voltage is applied between the pair of transparent electrodes), the predetermined display pattern is colored by the action of the display coloring layer. Also, when the display is off,
Due to the effects of the display colored layer and the non-display colored layer, the entire surface is colored with a mixed color thereof. - [Effects of the Invention] According to the present invention, when the display is turned off, the entire display is colored, so the display pattern and display color are not obvious to the viewer, and therefore, a high-quality liquid crystal display is produced. It has the excellent effect of being able to be used as a display.

In this embodiment, the difference from the original shown in FIG.
Colored layers 11 consisting of (red), G (green), and B (blue) are sequentially formed over the entire effective viewing range with the same pinch so that the colors are fine enough to be seen by the human eye at a certain distance. This is the point. Therefore, the transmittance and hue when the display is off are the same within the effective viewing range. When displaying in white, all three colors of RGB should be turned on (voltage turned on) as shown in FIG. Furthermore, when displaying in green, electrodes may be provided only in the portion where the colored layer becomes G, and only G may be lit. Intermediate colors are also possible if two colored layers are lit at the same time.
