Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a non-response trouble quickly by providing a timer which can be set by host unit. CONSTITUTION:A printer is composed of an instruction means 2 which receives an instruction from a host unit 1, a printing performance means 3 which performs printing operation and an end reporting means 5 which reports the end of printing to the host unit 1. For this printer, a storage means 6 to store a timer value to be set by the host unit 1, a timer to count based on the timer value and an intermediate reporting means 8 to report an interim report to the host unit 1 when the timer has registered 'time out' are provided. If a printing instruction is received by an instruction receiving means 2 from the host unit 1, this means instructs the timer to commence timer operation, and at the same time, instructs the printing performance means 3 to perform printing operation. If the timer indicates 'time out' while the printing performance means 3 is performing printing operation, an interim report is transmitted to the host unit 1 from the intermediate reporting means 8 to restart the timer. タイマーを設定する必要があった。その為、印字装置が
無応答障害になると、最大印字終了時間道障害が検出で
きず、保守性が低下する欠点があった。

とともに前記印字実行手段に印字動作の実行を指示し、
前記印字実行手段が印字動作中に前記タイマーがタイム
アウトする場合は前記中間報告手段から上位装置に中間
報告を通知し、前記タイマーを再起動し、前記タイマー
のタイムアウトする前に前記印字実行手段の動作が完了
すると、前記タイマーの動作を停止し前記終了報告手段
から終了報告を通知するようにしたことを特徴とする印
字装置である。

の実行を指示し、前記印字実行手段が印字動作中に前記
タイマーがタイムアウトする場合は前記中間報告手段か
ら上位装置に中間報告を通知し、前記タイマーを再起動
し、前記タイマーがタイムアウトする前に前記印字実行
手段の印字動作が完了すると、前記タイマーの動作を停
止し、前記終了報告手段から終了報告を通知するように
したことを特徴とする印字装置。
