Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve operability, by a method wherein it is detected that a document is set to an insertion part, and in combination with an output signal provided after elapse of a given time set by a timer, decision is effected to automatically start the feed of the document. CONSTITUTION:When the set condition of an auto mode is satisfied, the output of a circuit U1 is reduced to a low level, an auto mode signal is set from a circuit U3 for holding. When an output is sent from a timer T, the feed of a document is started, a reproducible signal and a document set signal are reduced to a low level, by an auto mode signal is held in a set condition. After given reproduction motion, a reproducible signal is increased to a high level, and in which case, if a document set signal is a high level, the feed of the document is started a time T0 later. If an abnormal signal or an ADF jam signal is increased to a high level, the output of a circuit U2 is increased to a high level and the output of a circuit U3 is reduced to a low level, and an auto mode signal is reset to bring a machine into a stop.

(Prior Art) Conventionally, an automatic document feeder is provided with a feed start button, and when this feed start button is pressed, the feed of the document inserted in the insertion section is started, and the copying machine starts feeding. The original is set on the original table of the printer, and the original is ejected after copying is completed. However, when making copies using such an automatic document feeder, it is necessary to operate the feed start button on the automatic document feeder and the copy start button on the copier, making the operation complicated. there were.

If the safety switch of the automatic document feeder is activated, the copy-disabled indicator lamp turns on. If the copy ready indicator lamp is on, when the first document is inserted into the automatic document feeder's insertion section, the automatic document feeder is set to auto mode and the document inserted into the automatic document feeder's insertion section is displayed. The start of transportation and the start of the copying operation of the copying machine are performed synchronously. After the final exposure, the first document is ejected from the document table of the copying machine by the automatic document feeder, but when the second document is first inserted into the insertion section of the automatic document feeder, At the same time as the automatic document feeder starts transporting the second document, the copying operation of the copying machine is started. The same operation is performed for the third and subsequent documents, but! When a document is not inserted into the insertion section of the automatic document feeder for a certain period of time, copy paper jams, document jams, lack of copy paper in the paper feed section, lack of developer in the development section, safety of the automatic document feeder. When the switch is activated, the auto mode is reset and stopped.

Further, as shown in FIG. 2, the automatic document feeder operates for a predetermined time To, for example, 0.3 seconds after the document is inserted into the insertion section.
After ec, feeding of the original starts. This prevents the original from being pulled out of the hand when the original is inserted into the insertion section by hand, thereby preventing wrinkles and jamming of the original such as thin paper. This time To should be extended a little more, especially when the operator is not used to it.

Since there is a possibility that a jam or the like may occur, it is desirable that the operator be able to vary the number arbitrarily.

In this embodiment, as shown in FIG.
is set on the copying machine 12, the original inserted into the insertion section 13 is fed, set on the original table 14 of the copying machine 12, and discharged from the original table 14 after the final exposure is completed. This automatic document feeder ii is equipped with a control circuit as shown in FIG. 4, and performs the above operations. In this control circuit, a NAND circuit u1 determines the setting condition of the auto mode, and outputs a document setting signal and an ADF set. A signal, a copyable signal is added. The document set signal is a signal from the paper detection means that detects the document set in the insertion section 13, and is a signal from the ADF.
The set signal is a signal from the safety switch of the automatic document feeder, and the copy enable signal is a signal issued from the copying machine when copying conditions are met. As is well known, the safety switch of the automatic document feeder is a switch that detects when the automatic document feeder is in a position where it can be used by blocking the document table of the copying machine. In addition, the NAND circuit ut is used to determine the reset conditions for auto mode, and is used to detect abnormal signals, A
DF jam signal and ADF set signal are added. The abnormality signal is an inverted signal from an abnormality detection means of the copying machine 12, and the ADF jam signal is an inverted signal from a jam detection device that detects a document jam in the automatic document feeder.

The output signal of the NAND circuit ulyut is applied to the NAND circuit U, and an auto mode signal A is obtained from the NAND circuit U. This auto mode signal A is applied to the NAND circuit u2 to hold the auto mode. The automatic document feeder is enabled to operate by the auto mode signal.
An operation timing signal is applied to each solenoid etc. by an auto mode signal A through an AND circuit u4. The original set signal is sent to the AND circuit U by the auto mode signal A.
, and sets a timer T. The tie-T then produces an output signal after a certain period of time To, and this output signal is passed through the AND circuit U by the auto mode signal A and output as a feed start signal. The automatic document feeder uses this feed start signal to drive the document feed drive motor to start feeding the document, and the copying machine uses the auto mode signal to start copying operations in response to a print signal from the copy start button. The process is started by a signal from the AND circuit U. Further, when the copying machine does not use an automatic document feeder, the document is manually set on the document table, and the copying operation is started in response to a print signal from a copy start button. Also, the operator controls the time T of the timer T.

Therefore, the auto mode signal is set and held by the NAND circuit U. When the output is sent from the timer T, document feeding is started, and the copy enable signal and the document set signal become low level, but the auto mode signal is held in the set state.

After a predetermined copying operation, the copy enable signal becomes high level, and at this time, if the document set signal is high level (that is, the next document is set), document feeding is started after time To. If the abnormality signal or ADF jam signal becomes high level, the output of the NAND circuit ut becomes high level, the output of the NAND circuit U becomes low level, the auto mode signal is reset, and the machine stops. The time To from when it is detected that a document has been inserted into the insertion section until the feeding of the document is started can be varied by switching the time of a timer T, such as a CR timer, an IC timer, or the like. It is also possible to create this time To using a counter, and in that case, the time To can be varied by changing the count number of a counter by changing the width of the pulse sent to the counter.

(Effects) As described above, the automatic document feeder according to the present invention detects that the document is inserted into the insertion section and automatically starts transporting the document. This eliminates the need for additional operations, improving operability. Furthermore, since the document feeding is delayed by a predetermined time using a timer means, if manual feeding of a 1M document is inconsistent or unsafe, the condition of the document can be corrected within that time, and since the time can be set arbitrarily, the document condition The correctable time can be changed depending on the operator's skill level.
