Claims

A rond-shaped plunger is slidably fitted into the guide body, and a ratchet member biased in the forward direction of the plunger is engaged with a notch formed on the axial side surface of the plunger. A chain tensioner that applies tension to a transmission chain by constantly applying a force in a forward direction to a plunger, the chain tensioner being interposed between surfaces where the guide body and the plunger face each other, and the plunger is connected to the guide body. A chain tensioner characterized in that a rubber-like elastic body is bonded to one of the opposing surfaces so as to float relative to the chain tensioner.
