Conventionally, the so-called autoclave sterilization method using heated high-pressure steam has been widely used as a method of sterilizing medical equipment, food, etc. However, in reality, the steam distribution inside the high-pressure machine, temperature distribution, instrument failure, etc. Poor sterilization due to operational errors and deterioration and deformation of objects to be sterilized due to overheating are currently occurring.
It is not easy to judge whether sterilization has been completed or not, and one way to manage these problems is to attach indicators that change color when heated with steam to the objects to be sterilized or insert them into various parts of the fabric. However, with conventional indicators, it was difficult to adjust the degree of color change depending on various factors such as temperature, time, and water vapor pressure, and the area of color change often did not match actual sterilization conditions.

However, this reaction proceeded even under relatively low conditions and was not applicable to the management of actual sterilization conditions. However, this type of reaction is characterized in that discoloration is caused by the presence of heat and water (steam), and if either one is absent, no discoloration occurs. In addition to the indicator shown in FIG. 1, the indicator used in the present invention is one in which a polymer film 2 is further provided on the lower surface of the base material 3 as shown in FIG. The indicator has a polymer film 2 on the surface thereof, an indicator ink layer 13, and a polymer film 2 on the ink layer 1.

The results showed discolored areas as shown in the following table. Note) 10: Discoloration has occurred -: Discoloration is insufficient or no discoloration. As shown in the above examples, a hydrophobic polymer film is provided on the indicator ink printed on the base material of paper, etc. By changing the amount of coating (film thickness), the penetration of moisture (steam) into the indicator is suppressed, making it possible to adjust the color change temperature and time of the indicator.
